Chapter 3: First Life – Auction (2) *** “Let’s see now… 33,000$ is that the final bidding? Is that all you have?” The showman said mockingly as if to provoke the audience more. “I didn’t know commoners made their way here…” He said purposefully insulting them. Showing a disapproving look on his face as if he was truly disappointed. Instantly after that performance of his however, a woman rose her hand and yelled “Sixty thousand!” It was loud enough for the man to hear her all the way up to the stage. “60,000$ now that’s more like it! 60k to Lady 115!” The showman confirmed the woman’s number. “Will there be anyone that dares to outbid Lady 115?” He asked and the crowd became reluctant to continue. The amount was now doubled than it previously was and less people seemed to be interested. “An albino boy is rare but the price is way too high!” One man complained, he sat back down in his seat, showing he has given up on bidding. After the man several others sat down as well. There were only about thirty or so participants left from the entire room filled with over three hundred people… “I see then if nobody wants to outbid Lady 115, she will be the winner of today… 60k going once…” The showman purposefully slowed his movements and spoke slower than before. He wanted to give one last chance for the rest of the participants to raise the prize. Yet the room was silent, it’s like everyone suddenly lost the will to go any higher. It seemed more than obvious that Lady 115 was also wearing herself thin by giving such a large sum of money for a man. “100,000$” A voice in the crowd spoke, it was as calm as a river. He did not yell nor did he find it necessary to stand up as he announced his prize. The man was sitting in the furthest back of the room, where nearly nobody could see him. “100k… the offer was said by…” The showman looked confused for a moment since he couldn’t see the man at first. But then finally managing to locate the only raised hand past the sea of people he seemed to recognize the man. His eyes widened… “Going once, going twice…” He no longer slowed his movements, it was obvious so the winner was at that moment. “Sold to number 13!” He said as they took away the albino man from the stage. Number 13 also finally stood up and headed to the back of the stage to claim his winnings for the night… ‘I got bought for such a high price… yet my life has been nothing worthwhile… funny…’ The albino man felt like laughing at himself for this ridiculous situation. In the end half of that money would remain for the auction house but at least the rest would make its way to his family. They will no longer be starving and in need of charity. It made the albino man feel like maybe his life wasn’t a complete waste of space after all… He was brought in another room right after the first part of the show was over… * * * Alistar walked to the back of the stage, he was a man of rather short stature, in fact he was shorter than the showman that approached him. However despite that he seemed to embody the confidence of a giant. It was like he looked down on everyone that ever came near him. It was such a look of arrogance that made people both dislike and fear the man… “It’s an honor to finally meet you in person Mr. Alistar Cadmel… truly an honor…” The showman quickly expressed his appreciation to the man behind stage. “We don’t use our real names here Showman…” Alistar was visibly disappointed by the other’s lack of manners. “Much less here were everybody can hear you.” “Please do forgive me, I was a bit too excited. The moment I saw you in the public I knew you’d be-” The showman was abruptly interrupted by the other. “Where’s my purchase?” Alistar asked as he looked around but didn’t see the albino man that was just on stage seconds ago. “He’ll be here in several seconds, we thought it was best to prepare him for you and-” Once again the showman was interrupted. “Bring him here immediately. I don’t want anyone else touching him.” Alistar commanded. With great hesitation in the showman’s voice he spoke. “We wanted to wash him and make sure he’s-” “Do I need to repeat myself?” Alistar was annoyed. His entire manner making him seem like he’d burn the entire place down if he had to waste another second there. And such an outcome wouldn’t be too far away in the Showman’s mind. If anything he expected much worse. “I’ll bring him…” The Showman quickly rushed off to the room where the man was held. “Sir! We’re not ready yet, we have just began undressing him-” Before the woman could say anything the other yelled at her. “Don’t touch him! He’s Alistar’s property, you know how germophobic he is… If he sees you’ve laid hands on him we’re all goners!” The Showman was panicked and gestured to the man to follow him. The Albino man put his loosened clothes back on and followed after the other person. ‘So he wants to undress me himself… what a disgusting man…’ He thought to himself. He was yet to see the face of the man that purchased him. But he didn’t care to find out, since it didn’t matter how the other person looked, as long as he was someone capable of spending 100,000$ as if pocket change, there was no way such a person would be good in the first place. Yet he wasn’t afraid, he didn’t expect anyone good to buy him. That simply wasn’t a possibility and the albino man knew exactly what he was getting himself into by choosing to walk on this endlessly rocky path in front of him…
