Chapter Five

The Waterfall The waterfall looked so beautiful. It was elegant. Peaceful. It was the most amazing sight I have ever seen. It was gem. I couldn’t believe that more people didn’t go there. With how beautiful it was, I would have expected it to be overrun with villagers. I was too busy taking in the scenery when all of a sudden Tala seductively said.  “Aren’t you going to come in?” I looked over at her and she was already naked. Her body was like a dream. Not a flaw in sight. Her hair ran down to the middle of her back. Her breasts were curvaceous and perky. Her skin was flawless not a single blemish in sight. Her skin was so tan and smooth. Her body was toned, muscular, but not too muscular, just enough to tell that she was fit. She was perfect in every way, every way except one; she wasn’t mine. Then she jumped in the water. I snapped out of it. I felt like I was staring at her so much, for some reason I just couldn’t get her out of my mind, but I need to, I just can’t be distracted right now.  “Yeah, I will be right in!” I proceeded to take off my shirt. I then slowly started to unbuckle my belt, then my pants. It felt awkward being this vulnerable in front of Tala, but I figured seeing as she stripped down in front of me, I should probably return the favor, giving into what she wants. I jumped into the water, splashing her in the process.  “Hey! Why’d you do that?” “Sorry, I didn’t mean to.” I swam closer to her, forgetting that we were both naked. The water was just low enough that we could touch the pebbles on the bottom of the lake. I swam so close to her that we were probably only inches apart.  “I was just f*****g with you.” She laughed as she pushed me back, but I just swam back to her. She had a pull to her, I wanted to be near her. I reached up to her face and I pushed back a piece of hair behind her ear. It was like I was in a trance. I then proceeded to lean into her. I was just about to kiss her before Nox interrupted us.  “Are you ready for training yet?” “I guess so.” I then swam into a shallower part of the lake, leaving Tala in the deeper area so she can bathe herself. I awaited Nox’s instructions to start training.  “Alright, lets see what you can do. Let’s start by trying to make water into a ball in your hand.”  “Alright, that sounds easy enough, however it probably is harder than I think it will be.” Nox didn’t respond. I took my stance, just a well grounded stance. I closed my eyes and focused on the water. I focused on what I could do with the water. Rather than just imagining water to come into my hand all at once, I imagined single droplets of water coming together to form larger droplets and eventually into a large water ball. I opened my eyes and I was happy to see that I had done it. “Now what?” “Okay, now I am going to want you to move that ball into your other hand. This part may be a little tricky.” I closed my eyes and imagined to do just that however when I opened my eyes, nothing happened. “What’s wrong? What am I doing wrong?” “Water is all about flowing, a river flows, water is fluid, try to let the water control you rather than you controlling it. I know you can master this in no time, you just have to believe in nature, that nature will help you. Be one with nature.” “Alright, I will give that a go.” I took a deep breath and I just let my mind go blank. I just sat there listening to the silence and started to relax, I took another deep breath and I felt water coming up my arm and into my hand making a ball. After the ball was completed, I allowed the water to go from one hand to the other. When I opened my eyes, I was surprised to what I saw. I saw that I had accomplished way more than I thought. Rather than transporting the ball from one hand to the other, I had managed to create an arch with the water. “Well done Than, you are doing really great, that is great progress. Just do that about ten more times, then I think that will be good for today.” And so I did just that. The more I did it, the easier it came to me. By the time that I got done, I was dripping sweat. I rinsed off with the water, I then proceeded to make my way over to Tala, where she was in the process of doing laps. I stopped her in her tracks.  “So you are done for the day? It only took you about 2 hours.” She said. Time must have gotten away from me, I could have sworn I was only training for about a half hour. “I was getting bored waiting for you to get done. I was watching what you were doing and that was stunning. Why don’t you follow me, I want to show you something that I discovered while you were training.” I followed her through the water and we took a step through the waterfall and it was a magical sight. Behind the waterfall, there was a cavern, not any kind of spooky cavern but a romantic setting kind. We were still in the water though. “So what do you have planned for me in here?”  “Oh, nothing really, I just thought we could talk for a bit before we had to leave to go to the Enchanted Forest.” “Okay, well what has been on your mind, Tala?” “Well, last night, while I was on my run, I had the strangest feeling like I was being followed or watched. I also saw a lot of runes or symbols in the forest. I don’t know what they could possibly mean.” “I wouldn’t know either, Nox would probably be the only one that might now what they mean. Do you remember what they looked like?” Tala drew the symbol right in front of me on the wall of the cavern and it kind of looked familiar, but I have no idea where I could have possibly seen it from. “We might find more information about these runes when we talk to Nox, is there anything else you want to talk about?” “Well, actually, yes…” She moved in closer to me. We were inches apart and her body lured me to move closer, her gaze was intoxicating. She entangled me into her love spell, at least it felt like a love spell and I realized that I wasn’t trying that hard to break it. I wanted this to happen.  She leaned in and kissed me. Our bodies caressing one another, my hands might have slipped a few times, but I often caught myself. Before we got too into the making out, I took a step back. “Tala, I would love to continue this, but we do need to get on the road, we already have spent too much time here. I’m not trying to hurt your feelings because I really do want to continue this, it is just we are on a deadline.” “You don’t have to explain yourself to me Than. I know that we have an obligation to the pack. We can pick up where we left off a little later, perhaps later tonight?” She asked as a question but we already knew the answer to that question.  “We will see. Let me wash off a bit more, you can get your clothes on and dry off quick, I will be out in a minute or two.” I grabbed Tala’s hand and led her out of the water and then I circled back to clean up. I walked underneath the waterfall and washed all the dirt and grime off of me.  I walked back to land and Tala was already dressed waiting for me to get dressed. I grabbed my trousers and my shirt and quickly got dressed. Nox was sleeping so we had to wake him up, and I have never waken up a dragon, so I didn’t want to be reckless. I focused on my energy flow and I closed my eyes and I imagined the water just hitting Nox as if it was a snowball. I felt the energy course through me and when I opened my eyes, I saw that Nox was drenched with water.  “Hey, Nox, we are ready to go! Sorry I splashed you with water.” “I’m not upset considering that you used a decent amount of power during that. That was a decent size of energy you conjured up to drench me. That was no small task. However it is rude to splash a sleeping dragon.” “Well I didn’t really know how to wake you up.. I didn’t want you to end up toasting me in the process.” “Than, for you it should be easy, all you have to do is tell me to awake in your mind. We are telepathically connected so even when I am sleeping I can hear your thoughts and I would never wake up like that.” “Okay, that sounds good, I was just checking. I didn’t know that we could do that. So if one of us was ever in distress and the other was sleeping we would be able to hear each other?” “Yes. So why did you wake me from my slumber?” “We are ready to go, so if you want to meet us back up by the horses?” “Yes, I can do that.” And then he was off. I walked over by Tala, who was patiently waiting for me to meet up with her. She was sitting on a boulder cross legged.  “Once again I am always waiting on you.” She chuckled. “Well if Nox was awake it wouldn’t have taken this long. I’m sorry.” She jumped off the boulder and started to walk with me back to the horses. She then nudged me. “Maybe I should lead, I am the one who can find the horse’s scent.” “Good call.” I moved out of the way and I let her lead. After our kiss it was hard not to look at her backside while following her uphill. It was so rounded and flawless and… “Than stop looking at my ass!” I snapped out of it, just as I almost fell to to the ground by tripping. Luckily I caught myself before I made a fool out of myself. The forest floor was entwined with roots everywhere. Almost every single step that I took, a root stood. “I wasn’t doing that.” I laughed, trying to play it off like I haven’t been doing what she was saying. “Yes you were, I saw you doing it.” Damn it. She did catch me. “We don’t have that much farther left to go.” “Yes Ma’am!” I laughed. She didn’t. “How many times have I told you not to say that. I am definitely not a ma’am!” Her face reddened with anger. “I know, I like seeing you get red like that.” “Well it isn’t funny.”  As we were approaching the edge of the forest we discovered a rune that Tala had mentioned earlier. Like the other rune, this rune seemed familiar to me too. Still not knowing where to place where I saw it from. In both of the runes there were a lot of geometric shapes to them. I took a minute to study it so when we got back to the carriage we could show Nox what it looked like.  As we continued to walk, we were on the lookout for more runes but there was nothing. We even noticed that there seemed to be no wildlife around as well. While we were at the waterfall, there was nothing, not one animal. Was this because of the runes? We walked out of the woods and we went straight to Nox. “Hey Nox. We found some runes in the woods and we were wondering whether or not you knew anything about them.” “Give me a look.” He said indicating that he wanted us to draw them out, which I did. I drew them out on the dirt road in front of him. “Hmm, well it looks to be a craft that I am not familiar with. But if I had to guess, it would be witches only because in order for these runes to be created, only someone with great power could make them. I don’t mean draw them, I mean actually do what they are meant to.” “That is a little unsettling.” “Yeah, I would say. I do know that I have seen these kinds of runes in my future scenarios and in all of endings that those runes are in, it doesn’t end too well. But like I said, I don’t take too much to heart when it comes to my sight. I am sure when it comes to us, everything will work itself out.” “I sure hope so. otherwise we might not make it out of this.”
