Chapter Three

4252 Words
~2 MONTHS LATER~ SKYE HAD HAD two months to acclimate to her life with the Adalwolfs. They were good people, it seemed. She finally accepted Fenris as a father. And she got along well with both Carson and Rhodey, who was now insisting everyone call him Rho. The boy was truly a goofball. He made sporadic decisions all of the time. Now, though, Skye was about to have her first new obstacle: school. The Crestview Academy reminded her of the distant school in the Harry Potter universe in Uganda, as it was said that the school was carved into a mountain. Crestview was carved out of the mountainside as well, and it seemed to stretch on for miles. It really leaned into the mountain for design rather than attempting to be its own thing. It further proved her point about the gray stone being a very common design theme here. It was longer than it was tall, but it still held multiple stories. There was a lot of glass in the design, letting in as much natural light as possible. It looked more extravagant than it sounded. The three siblings were in the back of the limo with Fenris, Conan, and Cornall. Cornall was adjusting nicely to life with the Adalwolfs as well. When Fenris’s gamma fell in battle, Cornall took over. He seemed quite happy. “Look after your sister”, Fenris was saying. “We know”, Carson and Rho said in sync. Cornall looked directly at Skye. “And, remember, if you decide you want to come home, we’re just a phone call away.” “We know”, all three of them groaned in sync this time. “They should’ve been triplets”, Conan said, causing the other two to snicker. The siblings rolled their eyes as they got out. “Bye, dads”, they said, slamming the car door shut. The three men were cracking up as they walked away, which no doubt meant they were making more jokes about the three of them being so in sync with each other. “This is our dorm number if you need anything”, Rho was saying, showing the number to her on his informational packet. Rho was quite talkative, and always made her feel the most relaxed. (Though he had complained the entire way about his face feeling naked, because he had shaved.) Skye was trying her best to focus on what her brother was telling her about directions, but she could hardly pay attention. She was hyperaware of the fact that everyone was staring at her and whispering. “Everyone’s looking at me”, she whispered. Rho glanced around before nudging her with a smirk. “Well, yeah. You’re with us. Everyone knows you’re our sister now. And as gross as it sounds to me, you’re probably the hottest girl on campus. Which people will stop saying if they want to keep their heads!”, he said, raising his voice enough for the people around them to hear and quickly get quiet. The whispering didn’t stop, though. It just dropped an octave. “That’s an exaggeration”, Skye snorted. When the whispering didn’t stop, Carson looked up, a growl building low in his throat. Everyone quickly adverted their eyes. It was quite clear that Carson was the future king that they respected… or feared. She couldn’t quite blame them. Carson could be quite intimidating, especially when you didn’t know him. “If literally anyone gives you any trouble at all, come straight to me. I’ll handle it.” “Yes, sir, dad”, Skye said sarcastically, rolling her eyes. “I’ll be fine.” Unbeknownst to her, a guy who was standing with five other boys, was watching. There were people around them, but none of the rest of them seemed to be paying attention. The boy whistled. “Check out the ass on that she wolf.” For some reason, the tallest boy bristled, standing up straighter. “Don’t be a dickhead”, he scoffed, not liking the fact that the boy was oggling her. He couldn’t put his finger on why, but he had a pretty good feeling. And if that turned out to be true, he didn’t like it. This was the wrong time for that s**t. Still, he couldn’t help but allow his eyes to rake over her figure as well. She wasn’t overly tall, likely around 5’4. Her golden brown skin was almost amber colored, like honey when it was left in the sun. Freckles littered the bridge of her slightly upturned, button nose and a bit of her cheeks. She had a heart shaped face, and everything about her looked petite and delicate. Her eyes were almost feline like, a warm, light brown in color, and were framed by long lashes. Her lips were like rose petals, full and plump and perfectly pink. They looked soft. She looked soft. Her dark brown curls fell down her back, almost to her hips. The uniform she wore left little to the imagination. The blue, plaid skirt brought attention to her hourglass figure and the width of her hips, as well as her thighs. You could see just a bit of the taut muscle before you saw her gray stockings. Her black Mary Janes looked brand new. The white button up hugged her figure tightly, showcasing the curve of her waist and her ample chest. The navy blue blazer hugged her a bit as well, though it was the least clingy item on her body. She was absolutely gorgeous. In fact, he was sure that he had never seen anyone so gorgeous. “What’s the problem, dude?”, his friend asked. The girl locked eyes with him over her shoulder, and he knew he was a goner. “Just be respectful.” Once they were inside, the siblings were interrupted by a group of four, three girls and a boy. “Okay, boys, we’ve got it from here.” The boy who spoke was an average height for a wolf, around 6’0. He wasn’t too muscular, but he wasn’t lanky either. He might be able to hold his own in a fight. He had a square jaw that was almost wide. It wasn’t particularly sharp, just soft and rounded. There was a natural blush on his alabaster skin, like the cold had gotten to him. His full lips turned up into a smile as he spoke. His eyes were a dark green, quite enchanting, really. They were large eyes, but they suited him. He had ash brown hair that was neatly gelled in a sort of windblown look. Honestly, he looked like he cared a great deal about his appearance. He was very well put together. Carson rolled his eyes. “Skye, this is Laika Moon. He’s head of the welcoming community here at Crestview.” “I also run the school’s LGBT club”, Laika said proudly. “He hooked up with Rhodey once and now he’s like a damn leech”, Carson said flatly. (He was mostly just exaggerating.) Skye turned to Rho with a raised brow, and he simply shrugged. Laika smirked. “And I’d do it again too”, he said. “But, unfortunately for me, your brother goes both ways, and I don’t wanna have that much competition.” Neither of them were interested in dating each other anyway. “Sorry, babe. I can’t be tied down”, Rho smirked. “What are you doing here anyway?” “We came to show Skye around”, the curvaceous Asian girl next to Laika informed, her plump, pink lips curving up into a smile. She stood around an inch shorter than Skye, making her 5’3 at best. Once upon a time, she wolves had been tall and graceful. Over the years, with less women in the major packs becoming warriors, the excess height had just stopped being common for all she wolves. Of course, there were still female warriors, it had just become voluntary rather than necessary. The girl was quite beautiful. She had a heart shaped face and delicate features. She was practically all rounded edges, soft and inviting. Her long, black hair fell in gentle waves down her back. It framed her perfectly. Her almond shaped eyes were nearly obsidian in color, but they held a genuine warmth and kindness. The color of her skin reminded Skye of wheat when the sun was bright and high in the sky. She offered Skye a well manicured hand. “I’m Honi Feng, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” “What else does the welcoming committee do?”, the taller, brown skinned girl with the group asked with a snort. At 5’6, she was the tallest of the girls. She was quite slender, and had stunning features, accentuated by the soft, oval shape of her face. She had a wider nose, which was slightly upturned. It was quite cute, and suited her well. Her eyes were dark and mysterious, protecting any emotion that she might have. Though she was slim, Skye could tell that she was also a bit muscular. She must be a warrior. At least one in training. Her full lips were set in a line that showcased annoyance. She had her jet black hair in neat, jumbo box braids that fell to her hips. Something about her told Skye that she didn’t take nonsense. She recognized her as Tala Louvel. Her picture was hung in the main hall because of her insanely high test scores. “Be annoying, apparently”, Carson snorted. “We are not annoying”, the final girl spoke with a scoff. She was the second tallest of the girls, being 5’5. She had wide hips and a very nice figure judging by the way her skirt was straining. The girl’s curves were out of this world. Her figure was almost unattainable, like something you’d see out of a cartoon but slightly less exaggerated. She had naturally tanned skin, and Skye honestly thought the Puerto Rican girl was the most beautiful girl she’d ever come across. She had long, dark hair with blonde highlights. Her brown eyes were doe like, big and expressive. Her full, plump lips turned up in an encouraging smile as she shook Skye’s hand. “I’m Daciana Lovato. Ignore your brother, he’s a hater.” “Not a hater”, Carson scoffed. “We’ll be showing Skye around. You can leave.” As much as he teased her, Carson and Daciana got along great. Their mothers had been best friends. Daciana’s mother made sure that Carson and Rho didn’t lose sight of their heritage. Skye elbowed him lightly in the ribs. “Don’t be a jerk, Car. You can all show me around.” So, that was the decision that was made. — — — The tour of the school took all day. It was a huge place, almost like a maze. They made sure she knew her way to all of her classes, her dorm, and all of theirs as well. Since the students were moving in, there hadn’t been class that day. Now, they were all having dinner. The cafeteria was a huge place, almost the size of an auditorium. It had nice, wooden tables and surprisingly comfortable chairs. Skye furrowed her thick brows when she realized everyone was staring, though this time not at her. She was pretty sure a girl just fainted. “What’s going on?”, she asked Honi. Honi looked up before rolling her eyes. “Oh, it’s the Quints.” She placed a burger down with an annoyed sigh. “Future alphas of the Shadow Moon Pack. The whole school is, like, obsessed with them. Personally, I think they’re assholes, but that’s not going to stop the rest of the school from kissing their perfect little asses.” “Okay, so the super tall one right there, that’s the oldest, Keller Leikos. He’s captain of the football team. Everyone worships the ground he walks on.” Keller was incredibly tall, Honi wasn’t exaggerating. (Well, he was only 6’5, but still. That was tall.) Not only was he tall, he had broad shoulders, and was a bit muscular in a lanky sort of way. He had a heart shaped face, his jaw quite sharp and defined, a bit wider than his brothers’. His brows weren’t exactly thick, nor were they thin, and were on the straighter side. It made him, ironically, look soft around the eyes. His eyes, which were slightly hooded, were a warm brown. There was a barely noticeable dimple in his chin. His hair, so dark that it was nearly black save for a few streaks, grew in waves, falling just past his high cheekbones and the nape of his neck. It was sort of messy in an on purpose kind of way. Skye recognized him as the boy who she had locked eyes with earlier. He’d been staring at her then, and he was staring now. He was quite handsome, she’d give him that. That didn’t mean she understood why everyone was willing to lick his ass. She knew the Shadow Moon Pack was the second largest in the world, right beneath her dad’s. If these five were the future alphas, it did make sense that no one wanted to get on their bad side. The Shadow Moon Pack was known for producing fierce warriors. An alliance with them was worth it. His heart shaped lips worked up into a smirk as he turned away. Honi snorted. “Yeah, don’t even bother. He would never look at any of us.” Tala rolled her eyes, not even looking up from her phone. “Ignore her. She’s just saying that because he rejected her five times.” Honi, admittedly, had been one of the girls who used to throw herself at the Quints, specifically Keller. “It was not five-“ Honi cut herself off, shaking her head. “Okay, whatever. That one next to him, that’s Noah Leikos. Also a member of the football team. He’s got the whole brooding bad boy thing down pact, drives a motorcycle and everything. Apparently, he’s super perfect though. Good grades, excels at everything including video games. Apparently, he even has the high score on Dance Dance Revolution at the arcade”, she snickered. Noah wasn’t quite as tall as his brother, but he was still tall. He was only about an inch or so shorter than Keller, maybe 6’3 or 6’4. He was quite tanned, more than Carson but not quite as tanned as Rho. He had the same heart shaped face as his brother, but his jaw was slimmer. His black, curly hair was cut shorter and styled neatly. His shoulders were a little less broad, but he was still muscular. (He took his gym time quite seriously.) His eyes were a chocolate brown, and he had surprisingly long lashes. His plump lips looked so inviting. This, Skye understood. Maybe it was the way he smiled, bright and beautiful. Something about him drew her in. “He’s the second oldest, literally obsessed with himself. He’s always fixing his hair and working out. I mean, Keller works out, but Noah works out.” She could definitely see the whole pretty boy aspect of him. His uniform was pristine, and he also had an expensive watch on his wrist. Keller had a thin chain around his neck, but Noah seemed to take his accessories seriously. The irony in that was that Keller had both his ears pierced, and Noah didn’t have any piercings at all. “The other tall one, that’s Blaine Leikos”, Honi continued. “He’s the middle brother. Plays baseball. Really smart, like aces everything smart.” Blaine was tall and broad shouldered, though not quite as much as Keller. He was 6’4 in comparison. He was more muscular as well, though she couldn’t be sure if that was genetics or if he loved the gym too. He had a diamond shaped face, but the strong jaw remained. He was more tanned than Keller, like he spent most of his time in the son. He had sort of narrow eyes that were a beautiful mix of brown and green, as he had heterochromnia. It was like his eyes held the earth itself, the green being like the canopy of the forest, and the brown reminding her of the earth itself. He had floppy brown hair that fell just past his jaw. It was quite fluffy and flicked out at the ends, sweeping across his forehead. He had deep dimples when he smiled. “He’s kind of shy, from what I hear.” “Oh, yeah, he doesn’t talk much unless it’s to be a dickhead”, Daciana nodded. “The one next to him, that’s the fourth one, Channing Leikos. He plays basketball. He’s known for these really epic parties.” He had the same diamond face shape as Blaine, though not quite as sharp. He wasn’t as tall as the other three, but he still had the same intimidating aura as an alpha. At 6’0, he was more average wolf height. Still tall, but not godly. He wasn’t the youngest, but he was the shortest. He had messy blonde hair, which only grew worse as he ran his fingers through it. She noticed that he had quite large hands. His eyes were a piercing blue, almost like the ocean when the sunlight shone directly on it. Plump lips, perfect teeth. These boys all looked like they stepped right out of Abercrombie & Fitch. It was surreal, to say the least. She wished she had whatever godly genetics they had if it made people do things for you more like this, because the cafeteria worker gave him extra. Channing was the only one who had blonde hair. His aura seemed much warmer and welcoming, despite the initial intimidation. He was boisterous and cheerful as he greeted another guy at their table, clasping the boy’s hand with a loud clap and pulling him into a half hug. “And the little one there, that’s the baby brother”, Laika informed. “Flynn Leikos. He’s captain of the lacrosse team, total sweetheart. Wouldn’t hurt a fly even if that fly was begging him to step on him.” Flynn was the smallest of his brothers in regards to build, but he wasn’t small enough that a person thought he wasn’t a threat. At 6’1, he was still a bit muscular, just not as muscular as the first four. He had a sharp jaw as well, more of a rectangular face shape and jaw, and eyes as green as emeralds. His hair was almost a caramel color, and was quite floppy as well, though not as thick and fluffy as Blaine’s. He was the palest of the group, and clearly the most sheltered, as it didn’t look like there was a single thing out of place on him. He looked like he never had to lift a finger ever. He didn’t look as into his appearance as Noah, but it was enough. “For Quintuplets, they don’t look very much alike”, Skye pointed out. “That’s why everyone likes them so much”, Honi shrugged. “One for everyone is the motto.” “Gross”, Skye said, scrunching her nose. “It doesn’t matter, because you won’t be going anywhere near them”, Rho said coldly. It was the first time Skye had ever heard her brother be so cruel. Usually, Carson was the mean one, but never Rho. “Rho-“ “Rhodey’s right”, Carson interrupted. “The Quints are bad news. Stay far away from them.” “Better listen to your boys on this one, sweetheart”, Laika nodded. “There was this girl, she was our last friend before you. Her name was Cady Parker. Out of nowhere, she started hanging out with the Quints, totally left us behind. And then, one day, she just disappeared without a trace. Her family packed up and left the pack, became Rogues.” He leaned forward, dropping his voice to a conspiratorial whisper. “Word on the street is, she died and they covered it up.” Skye swallowed thickly. So, clearly, the Quints were bad news. Laika explained that they and the twins fought a lot. She would have to make sure that her brothers steered clear. She wasn’t trying to see any fist fights. Thankfully, Tala changed the subject. “Skye, your dad sent out invitations to the packs for your eighteenth birthday. I’m RSVPing yes.” “Great!”, Skye said cheerfully. “I can’t wait to have you there.” Suddenly, Daciana groaned loudly. “Here come the Triple Ls.” Skye raised a brow. “You expect me to believe that doesn’t stand for Triple Losers?” Dacian snorted, holding back a laugh. “No. They’re called the Triple Ls because all of their last names start with L. They’re all major bitches. The blonde one is Bestia Lycaonia. Her family is, like, billionaires or something. She cusses people out for the hell of it.” She pointed to a sort of tall blonde with small blue eyes and pale skin. She was 5’11, and had an athletic build. Something about her unsettled Skye. She just looked evil. It felt like if she made one wrong move, the girl would end her. But a person wasn’t just born aggressive, and it made her wonder what Bestia had done through to cause such an attitude. “The tall one is Cailean Lyall. She’s the most tame out of the bunch. She’s actually really sweet sometimes. Just not when she’s with the other two.” She was tall and slender with long, jet black hair that was neatly curled and perfectly styled. Her face shape was quite square, all sharp edges. She had big, expressive brown eyes and thick, rounded brows. She also had full, pouty lips that were glossed red. She was quite pretty. She was also incredibly intimidating. “And the little one, that’s the queen b***h of all queen bitches, Fallon Lupus.” Standing at 5’4, the girl was the exact same height as Skye, but she was a little bit thicker in the right places. She was pale, and quite beautiful. She had big blue eyes, like the sky when the sun had set but the moon wasn’t out yet. If you looked closely, there was a darkness in them, something intense. She also had long, brown hair that flowed perfectly. Her full lips curved up into a fake smile as she greeted people. She had a rounded face, and it almost made her look innocent. “She’s Keller’s girlfriend.” “Oh.” Why did that make jealousy rumble in her chest? Across the cafeteria, the Quints had taken their usual table. Noah was the first to speak, his voice quiet. “You can sense her too right?”, he asked, glancing back at Skye. “She has to be ours.” Because the Quints had just turned eighteen, they could at least partially sense their mate, regardless of if she was eighteen or not. His wolf had been stirring ever since Skye arrived. It felt nice to feel Dialo alive. He hadn’t felt his wolf move in a long time. Not since… “It doesn’t matter”, Keller said flatly. “I’m not playing these stupid games with fate. We already have a mate to worry about.” Blaine frowned. “Keller, I know how you felt about Cady, but if we have a second chance mate we shouldn’t ignore that possibility just because-“ “That girl can never be Cady”, Channing interjected. “Point, blank, period.” “She doesn’t have to be”, Noah scoffed. “She just needs to be herself. The fact that you want to throw away the opportunity we’ve been given is literally insane. You haven’t even given it a chance.” “And we’re not going to”, Keller said coldly. “None of you are to speak to that girl. Do I make myself clear?” Noah glanced over at Flynn, raising a brow. “You’re just going to go along with this?” Flynn fidgeted uncomfortably. “We don’t know if Cady isn’t coming back yet, Noah.” Before anyone could say anything more, Fallon and her friends arrived. “Hey, baby. You look tense. What’s going on?”, she asked, taking a seat on his lap. Keller did care about Fallon, but deep down, he knew he didn’t love her. He was just using her as a placeholder for Cady, who may not even come back. “Nothing”, Keller said easily, wrapping his arms around her and kissing her shoulder. “Just some stupid shit.” Noah scoffed. “This is bullshit. I’m gonna do whatever the f**k I want when it comes to this”, he decided, standing up from the table and storming off. Blaine followed after him. The school year had barely begun, and yet things were already changing. For the first time since the day they were born, the Quints were divided.
