Chapter 3 : The Trials

227 Words
Liora led Amara to the Heart of the Forest, where the first trial awaited. To prove her worth, Amara had to solve the riddle of the ancient oak, a tree as old as time itself. "I am not alive, but i grow; I do not have lungs, but i need air; I do not have a mouth, and i can drown. What am i?" the oak asked, its voice deep and resonant. Amara thought hard, her mind racing through the possibilities. Finally, she smiled. "You are a fire", she answered confidently. The oak branches swayed, and a hidden door appeared in its trunk. "You have answered correctly. You may pass", it said. Beyond the door lay a shimmering lake, its water glowing with an ethereal light. Liora explained that this was a Lake of Reflections, where Amara had to confront her deepest fears. As she gazed into the water, the surface rippled, showing scenes frim her past: the loss of her parents, the loneliness she felt at the orphanage, and the self doubt that plagued her every step. But amidst the pain, she also saw moments and kindness, the friends she had made and the strength she had found within herself. With Liora's encouragement, Amara faced each fear head-on, and the lake's water began to calm. A path of stepping stomes emerged, leading to the other side.
