The second our eyes locked, a horrifying thought surged to the front of my mind, almost too awful to put into words. I tried to move my lips to speak. But it felt like someone had a vice grip around my throat. I couldn't squeeze out a single sound. Donald took another step closer, looming over me, his eyes sharp with open suspicion.
