Chapter 3: Weird Mum

1983 Words
After dinner, Alice obediently did not practice the piano and followed Shuya to the mall for shopping. Alice could obviously feel that her mother was in a bad mood. She spent money extravagantly when she was in a bad mood. In less than two hours in the mall, Shuya spent $200,000. A dress costing more than $2000, Shuya bought five pieces for Alice in one go. The styles were the same, but the colors were different. There were two colors that were not suitable for Alice, but Shuya bought them anyway. Alice was a little uneasy, but she didn't dare to persuade Shen Shuya. The money was naturally spent by Qing, who had no blood relationship with her. Alice felt uncomfortable every time he spent money on her. After spending the money, Shuya felt better and asked the driver to take her things back first. She found a high-end coffee shop and asked Alice to drink coffee with her. Alice felt uneasy. Sitting next to Shuya, she was nervous and didn't dare to speak out. After the coffee was served, Shuya took a sip and rested her arms on the armrest of the seat elegantly and leisurely. Time has not left many marks on her face. That well-maintained face is amazingly beautiful, exuding a mature charm that young girls do not have. Shuya turned the bracelet she just bought on her wrist and asked Alice if it looked good? Alice said it looked good. Shuya asked again whether the bracelet looked better or whether it looked better on her wrist. She asked casually, even with a smile on her face, but the alarm nerve in Alice's brain tightened and she said seriously, "It looks good on mom's hand." Shuya smiled again, with a nonchalant expression, "I think so too." "When I was with your father, I was very poor and couldn't afford anything." Shuya's eyes were a little dazed. "I was often beaten. I don't know how I survived that time." Alice has heard these words hundreds of times. The love between Shuya and Alice's father is very cliché, with the rich beauty marrying the poor man. The poor man is gentle, hardworking, and handsome. In the early stages of their relationship, he could travel halfway across the city just for Shuya's casual mention of delicious food. The completely infatuated rich beauty cuts ties with her family and decisively marries the poor man. Within two years of marriage, poor man's original thoughtfulness and gentleness were gone, and he would even fight with rich beauty for his parents. Rich beauty, who saw his true nature clearly, ran away with her daughter who was not yet one year old. After knowing that love is unreliable, rich beauty began to pursue bread, the ultimate "bread". Instead of taking her child home, she played among various men and relied on their money to support her child. Shuya took Alice's hand and raised her hand to look at the lamp. That hand has clear joints, is fair and slender, and even the texture of the palm is thin, with very few random lines. It looks perfect no matter how you look at it. Shuya looked at Alice's hand persistently and whispered softly, "Do you see how beautiful it is? Mom raised it so well, not just to let it wash the dishes and take out the trash in the future. It should be placed on the piano keys, You don't have to do anything except play the piano, what do you think?" Alice nodded stiffly. Shuya's expression suddenly changed and she pinched Alice's face. Alice was forced to raise her head, the panic and confusion on her face clearly illuminated by the orange light above her head. That face is so beautiful, with delicate eyebrows, a delicate nose, and tiny sparkles in the eyes, which makes people feel affectionate. Shuya pinched Alice harder, her eyes were fierce, and she called her name word by word. "Alice Shen, just use this innocent face to lie to others. If you let a man lie to you in turn, I will beat you every time you got lied. Got it?" Alice's eyelashes trembled and she nodded in panic. Shuya shook him off, her tone still cold, "Take out your phone and open your address book." Alice took out his cell phone tremblingly, with the finger marks from Shuya still hanging on her cheek. Shuya looked through all of Alice's chat software, then pointed out a few people and asked her to call them and ask them out. Alice didn't know what she was going to do, so she asked uneasily, "Now?" Shuya said coldly, "Now!" Following Shuya's instructions, Alice called each of those classmates over one by one. Shuya regained her usual elegance and chatted gently with Alice's classmates. Alice only briefly introduced the identities of both parties at the beginning and remained silent thereafter. Shuya saw each person one at a time, with varying lengths of conversation, ranging from a few minutes to over ten minutes. When the fifth person arrived, Alice felt a strong sense of unease in her heart. The newcomer had silver-gray hair and wore a loose floral shirt with three buttons undone, revealing a tan chest adorned with a skull pendant necklace. He was mixed-race, with high brows and deep eyes, exuding a rebellious and spoiled aura. Upon seeing the obedient Alice nestled in the corner of the sofa, the young man licked his lips, smiled seductively, and approached. "Well, it's rare for you to willingly call your brother." Jack hooked his arm around Alice's neck, leaned in close, and had a look as if he wanted to kiss her. Like a wound-up spring, Alice immediately moved away whenever Jack got close, avoiding him. To prevent Jack from getting too familiar, Alice said, "This is my mom." Jack was taken aback, only then realizing there was another person in the room, looking a bit bewildered with his head tilted to the side. Shuya, accustomed to grand scenes, continued to smile. "Hello, I'm Alice's mom." Jack instantly toned down his unruly demeanor, nodding with a smile. "Hello, Auntie. Alice called me earlier, saying her mom wanted to meet me. When I came in and saw you, I thought you were her sister, so I got a bit carried away. Sorry about that." Alice had never seen Jack so serious before. To him, Jack's slick appearance was already quite serious, at least his attitude was polite. Being praised for her youthfulness, Shuya was in a good mood. "Have a seat." Jack glanced at Alice and sat beside him. This time, Alice didn't even bother introducing Jack to Shuya; Jack handled it himself. Alice remained silent throughout. As Jack and Shuya chatted, Jack occasionally glanced at the silent Alice, who kept her head down. From Jack's perspective, Alice's half-lowered eyelashes were long and curled, and the light reflected off her face, showcasing her fair and delicate profile, with a slight curve at the corner of her lips. Alice's smile would widen that curve, resembling a crescent moon sinking into the horizon. But Alice rarely smiled; Jack had only seen her cry. He often made Alice cry. Thinking of her tearful appearance, Jack licked his lips and couldn't resist reaching out to touch her hand. Alice immediately pulled away, reacting strongly, her body trembling violently. She never expected Jack to dare to harass her in front of her mother, feeling both shocked and terrified. Seemingly oblivious to their subtle actions, Shuya kindly continued chatting with Jack. Alice felt like she was sitting on pins and needles. They chatted for over half an hour, which felt like centuries to Alice. After bidding farewell to Jack, Shuya took Alice home. The music room had been tidied up, and Alice spent the entire afternoon practicing the piano. The next morning, after Qing left for work, Shuya asked Alice to change into a new outfit she had bought the day before. Alice didn't ask why she had to change; if Shuya asked her to, she would do it. Shuya smoothed out the wrinkles in her clothes and then looked up at her. "Don't spend all your time practicing the piano at home. I've arranged for you to meet a classmate. Go out with him to watch a movie and have dinner." "Remember!" Shuya emphasized. "Be home before 2 o'clock in the afternoon." Alice didn't want to go out; she wanted to stay home and practice the piano. But knowing Shuya's temper, she just asked, "Who did you arrange to meet?" Shuya replied, "Jack." Alice froze, her words stuck in her throat for a long time before she managed to squeeze out, "Mom, can I..." Shuya interrupted him. "No!" Cold and assertive. Alice didn't say anything more, obediently sitting in Uncle Wu's car and heading to the cinema. Jack had dyed his hair back to black, wearing a sporty outfit, leaning against a pillar outside the cinema, looking charismatic and rebellious. When Alice got out of the car, Jack walked down the steps in three strides, his long legs even crossing a safety barrier, his black hair fluttering in the breeze. Jack reached for Alice's hand. "Why did you take so long? I've been waiting for you!" Alice dodged. Jack didn't get angry, instead leaning in closer to Alice. "I dyed my hair black again. Go tell your mom, don't mistake me for a delinquent." Alice kept her eyes down, silent. "Let's go watch the movie." When Alice refused to hold his hand, Jack grabbed the hood of her coat, pulling her along like walking a dog. Alice didn't resist, silently following him into the cinema. Jack had booked a private screening room. Seeing that it was just the two of them in the theater, Alice stood at the door, refusing to enter. Jack's expression darkened. "It's starting soon. What are you making a fuss about?" Alice clung to the door, her voice tense. "Let's watch in a regular theater." Jack's face turned cold. "I want to watch it here." Alice turned to leave, but Jack grabbed her wrist. Jack was furious, and his words were almost harsh, but Alice turned her head at that moment. Her translucent apricot eyes looked a bit stubborn, showing her unwillingness, but Alice didn't know that her eyes usually looked like they were covered with a thin layer of brightness, and now, when angry, the watery glow became even more apparent, as if water could be squeezed out. Jack's anger subsided instantly, raising his hands in surrender. "Okay, okay, let's go to a regular theater." After buying new movie tickets, they went to a crowded regular screening room. Alice hardly paid attention to the movie; she was constantly on guard against Jack's actions. After finally finishing the movie, Jack treated Alice to Japanese cuisine. There was a table full of dishes: sukiyaki, tempura, sashimi. After the dishes were served, Jack hung a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door, closed it, and stared at Alice as she ate. Alice had no appetite and barely ate two pieces of tempura. Jack kept kicking her shins under the table. Alice couldn't eat anymore and put down her chopsticks. "I'm full. I should go back." Jack's gaze stuck to Alice. He smiled provocatively. "You're full, but I haven't eaten yet." Alice sensed trouble and panicked, standing up to leave. Jack acted fast, pressing Alice against the door, his large hand covering Alice's narrow waist, while the other hand held Alice's wrists. "Darling," Jack's breath brushed against Alice's neck, "do you think you can get rid of me now that you've graduated?" Alice struggled, but Jack tightened his grip, his voice growing hoarser. "Don't move. If you provoke me, I'll f**k you right here." Alice's face turned pale in an instant, and he said with a trembling voice, "Jack... please let me go."
