Chapter NineIt’s the last day of school before breaking up for the Christmas holidays. Finally. The last week -and-a-half dragged massively and even with a ‘reduced’ homework timetable, my studies have been piling up and taking up hours in the evenings. Daisy came over last night, for the first time since we watched Peter Pan, and we worked on Maths together. We sat at the dining room table, with Roscoe laying on my bare feet and Mum bringing in tea and biscuits. For an hour or so, even though I was doing algebra, I actually enjoyed myself. After completing each equation I would treat myself to a glance across the table at my homework partner: her red hair frizzed from the rain that had poured down on our way home, her shirt crumpled and stained with pasta from lunch.
