Clove looked like he had a lot to say. We hadn't had time to chat because of business, internal and external. He waited patiently now as I gulped down the bottle of cool water. I finished and tossed the empty in the trash.
"What's the update, Beta? Any leads on the assailant in the woods?"
"No, Alpha. In fact, I fear we've reached a dead end." He looked slightly ashamed.
"What about the other part?"
"I'm still on it. All we know for now is that Sophie Nile has been in the city of the Crimson Lake for sure. But we've also learned that she moved about a lot, so I feel it's not enough to prove she's involved with that pack."
That last bit gave me tiny relief.
