Edana-Ava told the wind make to practice on her own, which she does not seemed to mind. The boys went back to their training that left me with Edana-Ava. She told me that I will be learning the shadow magic.
“It is different for you cannot feel the flow of the energy to create darkness. You need to visualize that you are surrounding something in darkness or picture a very big invisibility cloak.”
I nodded my head to say I got the idea. I started off small and looked at a rock. I chose to picture an Invisibility cloak. The rock then disappeared. Edana-Ava looks pleased. I then went to something a little bit bigger. Looking at the tree, I concentrated harder, and that too disappeared. We need to cover more ground, so the area around us was the target. I took a deep breath and concentrated. To my surprise, I cannot see what is around me. I did it, I mastered shadow magic. It was now time to go in to eat.
We made salads for dinner from what Edana-Ava pulled out of the icebox and jars. Ken-Farris filled the cups of water. Once we got what we want in our bowls, we sat down. I called Midnight over and gave some of my food. She was just grateful to get something since I did not have time to make her something. After dinner, everyone except Edana-Ava went to take a nap.
After a while, Edana-Ava woke us up so we will be on our way to the non-magikan's village. She gave Kenn-Farris her invisibility cloak so that we can give it to the teen after we save him. I gave a kiss on Midnight's head for good measure and we all went out the door.
We talked quietly about our plans to make sure we all remember each of our parts of the plan. When we reached the edge the forest to get to the village, we put on our invisibility cloaks on.
I arrived at Edana-Ava's cottage at twilight. It is like I remember it. I knocked on the door and she opened it. Edana-Ava was shocked when she saw me standing there. She got over it quickly and let me in. Edana-Ava started to make tea as I sat down to rest. She got out the tea cups and placed them on the table, touched the kettle with her hands, and it began to whistle. When it cooled down some, she poured it into the cups, and put the kettle on the hot pad. Midnight came by to see what is going on. I am glad that she is all right for traveling so far from home. After I took a sip of tea, I said,
“l cannot believe you sent Elena-Irene out there all alone. Especially after what has happened to my husband.”
“I would never do such a thing. She is with three others who are trained at their abilities. Even Elena-Irene has made improvements with hers. Let us just drink our tea like in the olden times.”
“I appreciate your candor. Yes, I would like to.”
Quietly walking, we made it close to the center of town and hid behind some trees. Peeking from behind the trees, I paled at what I saw and heard. There are men putting firewood around a young man while saying,
“If only we could just put them in prison with iron or rowan instead of burning the witches.”
“I for one do not mind watching them burn,” replied the other. Ken-Farris as well as the others heard it too. He looked at me with concern for we are both at one tree together. The others are at one close by. I qquietly told him I will be fine, for we have to do this. There is no time to lose since more are approaching the area. One guy who might be in charge of the executions for he has a lit torch in one hand, spoke of the young man’s crimes. Taking a deep breath, I calmed my nerves and nodded my head. This is do or die for the young man. I raised a rock near us with my mind and the wind maker sends it in the opposite direction. The man with the torch directs some people in the direction of the noise to investigate.
Ken-Farris, myself, and Terran-Scott quietly went to the stake. I quickly nodded my head at the green thumb and we then construct an invisible barrier around us. Once the wall is up, Ken-Farris gathered the moisture in the air and let it go. It started to rain even though it was not suppose to tonight. We noticed that people are looking at each other in bewilderment. Ken-Farris untied the young man and told him to be quiet. He handed him the invisibility cloak and he quickly put it on. Terran-Scott made an opening behind us and the four of us silently backed up to were Iima-Marie is waiting for us.
When the four of us reached her, I made a faint light so she knows that no one was following us. The rain slowly abated as we walked to the tree line. When all of us made it to the shelter of the trees, we took off our invisibility cloaks, and put them in our pockets. I made the light a little brighter since it is a little darker out. No one said a word for the adrenaline rush is gone as well as using a lot of energy for the rescue wore us out. My father would have proud at us for what we accomplished. Even though I have never met him, I still miss him.
We made it back to the cottage without injury from the forest. Since we all are sleepy, we quietly went to the sitting room. We found some blankets, laid them out, and got comfortable on the ground.
