CHAPTER4

1069 Words
When I stood in that hall, I thought walking away from my family would be painful, turns out, I was wrong, being rejected by my mate is even more painful, I remember I heard stories about how painful it was when a wolf rejected his mate, but hey now I know what it felt like, 'Is this how death feels like' I thought to myself. Because of the pain I was feeling, I couldn't even bid goodbye to my family, I just walked out of there like a zombie, I couldn't feel or hear anything, my body was numb. I towed through the forest with tears streaming down my face, I didn't bother to wipe them away, because I had an endless river flowing out of me. I didn't know how much time had passed, hours, minutes, seconds, I didn't know, neither did I care. I yearned to talk to Alexa but she was shut down somewhere in my mind, I couldn't access her, she was more hurt than I was that was for sure, I wished I could console her. The air picked its speed as it blew all over but I didn't notice it or smell the storm that was stirring up, even when the heavy rain started falling, I was still numb and feeling miserable. Suddenly, I felt a piercing from my lower back to my stomach, at first I thought I was just imagining it or something like that, my gaze fell to my stomach and a spear was sticking out of it, I abruptly turned and was met with a couple of the pack warriors, some were in their human forms, with various weapons, while other in their wolf forms, they sneered and growled at me in a threatening manner. It seemed that was the wake-up call I needed because I realized that my time was up, they were here to kill me true to the Alpha's word. They stood a few feet away from me as the heavens thundered and the rain diligently poured down, making it harder for either of us to see. I used this to my advantage, gathering up all the strength I had left, and broke into a sprint, immediately like the animals they were, they chased me down. I ran as if my life depended on it because that was literally the case, but running without direction was an absolutely shitty plan, I couldn't shift into my wolf because Alexa had shut down, so I was on my own. Luck wasn't on my side at all because as I was running, I tripped and fell over, "Bloody hell!" proceeded out of my mouth as I collided with the ground. A wolf pounced on me and dug its fingers into my flesh, I wailed in agony, and somehow managed to get it off of me, I might have not had experience in fighting but I did know defense and studied every weak part of a wolf and human. Using my experience, I willed myself to fight, it was formidable and I knew I stood no chance of winning so I decided to find a way I could stall them long enough for me to escape, I briefly closed my eyes saying a small prayer to the moon goddess, "Please, help me," Like an answer to my prayers, lightning struck a tree branch and it came falling as a result the pack warriors and I stepped aside as it landed in between separating me from them. I quickly thanked the moon goddess and broke into another sprint, I ran and ran without looking back until my lungs burned out and the last of my energy diminished. I almost fell over a ridge but halted in time, it was relatively deep, just looking down made me feel dizzy and nauseous. I turned and decided to take a step back, but unfortunately, the warriors caught up to me, I had no way out, behind me was a ridge, and in front were the warriors, I sighed accepting defeat, this was it, this was my end but at least I won't die without a fight, my Father always told me that it was honorable to die with a fighting spirit, to never give up. One hand held where the wolf lacerated me, while the other was ready to defend me, one of the warriors in human form came forward, he laughed and mocked me, "Look at what has become of the daughter of Beta Maxwell, how pathetic, you look miserable and disgusting but this is what you deserve and I, as the person who will kill you will definitely get an enormous reward from The Alpha and his family. " Like the monster he was, he kicked me where I was most wounded, it wasn't a simple small kick, but a mighty one you could literally tell that he used most of his strength, the spear that was sticking out in my flesh was kicked back and it entered in my flesh, as the other half broke off, not only did that happen but I was also thrown back, in the process falling over the ridge. I couldn't scream, nor could I cry or do anything else as I felt weightless, for a while as I was endlessly falling, air whipping around me. The warriors watched me with smiles on their faces as they achieved their agenda of killing me, they were probably daydreaming of what amazing prizes they'd get for doing this, later on, I crushed into the water with a thud hitting my head over a rock, the water was cold but soothing and calming, I didn't mind being in there, I didn't mind the throbbing in my head, or the aching of my body, or the wounds inflicted on me, I didn't care, I just wanted to drown with all my pain and griefs in this cool river, maybe the after life was beautiful, like a pretty garden with different gorgeous flowers and I could be free and run around and maybe I'd find Iris there, I missed her so much, if she were here this wouldn't have happened, I would have been happy and home with my family. I felt my strength start to gradually leave me, my sight getting weaker and weaker by the moment, my eyelids began feeling heavy and I slowly ended up losing all consciousness.
