Unfortunately And Fortunately{Darren}

My eyes trailed back to the details on the laptop screen. The brat was right. She was pregnant with my child. Bryan was able to get her location in the past three weeks. Her relationship status is single and has not been to a club or hotel. I ran my fingers through my hair and tugged on the ends. A low groan escaped me when I recalled how she had suggested I used protection but I refused. She might be wild but she was careful. Not only was I her first, I f****d her raw. If she'd been with another man besides me, she'd advise him to use protection just like she did with me. All this information was unnecessary, I knew deep down that she was right all along. Laughter bubbled inside of me. My blessing came in mixed with the blood of my enemy. Was this a blessing or a curse? Realization charged me up like electricity. Slowly, a smile climbed its way to my lips. From Bryan's findings, the girl was an illegitimate child. Her father hid this fact from the world. She's his disgrace, I wonder what will happen when his disgrace has yet brought upon another disgrace to his doorstep. I leaned back into my chair, enjoying the devilish thought that ran through my head. I've been battling with Christian ever since I was made CEO and Alpha but he was able to bring himself back up. The i***t was married to the daughter of an Asian tycoon who was always the Jesus in his story but if there is one thing that can ruin things between him and the Asians is a scandal as dirty and huge as this. Yeah, I would not mind splashing a bit of dirt on myself to pull Christian six feet into the mud. Unfortunately for the brat, she will be a pawn in my game. An anchor to yank Christian to hell. I gave Taylor the directions to the hotel Bryan told me she was staying at. Relief flooded me, knowing she didn’t go straight to abort the baby like she promised. I need both her and the baby. The plan was easy. Pretend to be a man who’s only wish is to have a child of his own and use that sob story to win her over. I will have to confess my reproduction problem so she understands why I didn't believe her at first after which I will apologize and grovel if needed. She would need convincing and I would do whatever to make her believe she’s an angel sent to make my dream come true. A small part of me hates that I had to use her and play dirty but the larger part of me fueled by hatred and anger overshadows that guilt. My life fell apart when my mother died. My father became a whole new person, even the pack felt it. I know he still blames me for what happened to his wife and I allowed him to blame me all those years because I know he needed someone to blame but now, I will make Ravenswood suffer for it all even if I need to use Lorelai as my pawn. It was an easy plan and I would not fail. Getting the card to her hotel room was easy, the staff recognized me. Who didn’t? But the moment I got to the front of her door and slid in the card, the sharp scent of blood wafted into my nostrils, leaving the metallic taste on my buds. I could hear two different heartbeats and both were beating fast and hard. She was in danger. I saw red, my heart raced as I slammed right into the door before it came open, right there, in the middle of the scattered room was a masked stranger choking Lorelai tightly, blood dripped from her nostrils and mouth. Her body had gone limp, she was unconscious. Time slowed. My body moved with great speed, my wolf Rhys took control, our vision going blind with rage. The intruder barely had the time to defend himself when my hand tore into his chest, gripped his warm beating heart and yanked it out of his body. It wasn’t until the loud thud of his body hitting the ground reached my ears did my wolf return control to me. I glanced down at the bleeding heart in my blood soaked hand and down at Lorelai’s lifeless body on the floor. I tossed the heart to the side and fell to my knees. All plans of using her as a pawn flew out the window as I stared hard at her body, my hands trembling when I reached to carry her. The only thing I could hear was the rush of blood in my system. I had no feelings for the girl but seeing her in this state broke something in me. Luckily for me and for her, she didn’t die, and neither did the baby, but she’s still unconscious. I called for a doctor on my way to my private estate, where I brought her as soon as I was sure she still had a pulse. Dr. Fred had done his job and left, leaving the resting girl with me. He said she needed to rest and finish the dosage of medication he prescribed. I pulled down the huge curtains in the room so she wouldn’t be blinded by the light when she woke up. Turned out, the girl had no wolf. It was luck that brought me to her but if I was any later than that, she’d be dead. That didn’t settle well within me and seeing the bruise on her left eye and lips told me of how she fought regardless but these marks won't heal immediately like it should if she had a wolf and seeing them made my blood boil. I threw one last glance at her sleeping figure before leaving the room, marching to my office to meet Bryan so we could discuss who wanted Lorelai dead and why.
