Chapter - 9 I woke up with the sunshine on my face. I sigh. Monday. I did my morning routine and started walking to school. Nothing interesting happened yesterday. Since it was Sunday, that meant all I did was read. If you were interested in what books I was reading, I could tell you. Nothing fun, just books that the teachers recommend to us. I want to read everything and memorize it so I can pass the exams next year easily. I finally got to school and went to class. Nothing interesting happened. I just chatted with Daniel and, of course, I explained the lesson to him. During the lunch break, we went to a nearby cafe and ordered some sandwiches and a coffee. Of course, still needing to play the role of this girl, I had to order a watermelon and strawberry smoothie. As we got our orders, we left the cafe and started walking back towards the school. " Something is different about you," he said out of the blue. I raised an eyebrow at him as I bit down on my sandwich. "I don't mean that in a bad way though. It's just..." He said, scratching the back of his head. "It's just that you look more mature than you used to. I mean, you started studying and even explained the entire lesson to me. It's like you are trying to be the old you, but you have a responsibility too. You know what I mean?" He said. We had already stopped and he looked at me. I quickly smiled and covered my mouth as if trying to laugh. He then joined in and started laughing. We continued walking until we finally got to school and sat down for our next class. That situation was dangerous. The best way to avoid it is to think that it was just a joke. But I did explain in class that, after losing my voice, I realized it was not going to be easier than it is now. Which, he replied with a nod and a sweet smile. Finally, school ended and instead of going back home, I started walking through the city. In a few hours I'm meeting Jenny at a cafe and I need to scout out that place, then find her lost ring. In my previous life, I was going to get it earlier, but the fact that I was always busy stopped me from getting it. This time, however, I'm not as busy as I used to be. I went to a hotel and got up to the seventh floor. After a few years of trying to figure out where her ring was, I finally made progress. I left the elevator and walked to the end of the corridor. I rang the doorbell and waited. I heard slow footsteps and then the door opened. I put on my sweet smile and looked at an old woman looking back at me. I pointed towards my mouth and then crossed it with my two index fingers. The woman nodded and stepped to the side. She allowed me to enter her place. When we sat down, I pointed to the ring on her pinky finger and tried to explain with my body language that it was mine. After about twenty minutes of struggling to explain, she finally understands me and gives me the ring. I then pulled out a box that had some chocolate and a file. The file consists of evidence that can free her son from prison. I did my research yesterday. After that, I left and started walking toward the cafe. I was a little late, but as always, I have a good reason. As I entered the cafe, I immediately spotted her. I sat down, putting the bag next to my chair. She looked up from her phone and started examining me. The waitress brought us two cups of coffee and a plate of little sandwiches, then she left as she wished us a happy meal. We both took a sip of our coffee before she started talking. "So, before I give you the stuff. I need to clarify that it's truly you. I don't want anyone but the real Fox touching these." She said as she put the briefcase on the table. I nodded at her, taking a sip from the cup. I then pulled the ring out of my pocket and put it on the table. She looked in disbelief but before she could grab it, I snatched it back. I saw her breathing heavily. "Where did you find it?" She gritted out. I smiled and put my index finger at my mouth. It's a secret. She sighed and looked at me with teary eyes. "Let me start asking then. Why did Fox join our group?" I took out my phone and started typing. 'I joined the group because it was quick money which I needed to travel the world with my boyfriend, but in the end, he killed me and used my money for his own success.' I gave her my phone and her eyes grew wide. "What does Fox hate more than anything?" 'A liar and a snitch' She looked at me and nodded. "I believe you". She passed me the briefcase and I passed her the ring. I put it in the bag and we got up and left the cafe. Of course, she paid for everything. I'm not as rich as I used to be. We got into her car and she started driving me home. "Do you want everyone in the group to know you are still alive?" I thought about it and nodded. "Alright, I'll bring you to the HQ tomorrow then." She said as she pulled up to my house. I bid her farewell and went into the house. I took off my shoes at the door and went straight upstairs. I went to my room and took the briefcase out. I went to my drawers, pulled out the bottom of it, and placed the briefcase. I put the bottom back in place and closed the drawer. I quickly changed into a big pink fluffy hoodie with pink shorts. I'll need to buy new clothes and throw them away, or donate them. I went downstairs and into the living room. I see that there is no one, so I grab a blanket and turn on the television. Finally, I can relax. Before I knew it, I fell asleep. I barely opened my eyes to hear the TV was turned off and then someone brought the blanket up to me. Since I had just woken up, I could barely see anything, it was blurry, but then the lights turned off, and then silence. I closed my eyes and fell back asleep.
