I sat down at my laptop and I made an untraceable account and sent a message to an old friend. I would have used my old account, but there's a tradition in this job. If someone dies, their account will be deleted immediately and there's no way to get it back. Just my luck. I heard a knock at the door, so I quickly closed the laptop and turned toward the door. The door opened to reveal my brother.
"Sis, I saw you buy food, why isn't it in the fridge?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
I took out my notepad and a pen. 'I bought that for myself so as not to feed everyone in the house. When I was hungry, you and your buddies ate everything, so why should I share the food that I bought with my own money.' I showed him and he took the notepad out of my hands. He read it and looked at me with a serious expression.
"You drove my car without my permission," he said, giving me back my notepad.
'Then next time don't eat everything that's in the kitchen.' I showed him. After that, I grabbed a lollipop from the shelf, unwrapped it, and put it in his mouth. He quickly pulled the lollipop out of his mouth and stomped out of my room, slamming the door behind him.
I got up, locked the door, and sat back down at my desk. I opened the laptop and looked. No response. I sigh in frustration. How hard is it to reconnect with old friends? I got off my laptop, changed into my gym wear, and went down to the basement. I started my exercise routine until I heard a cough. I pulled down my headphones to see a guy in sweatpants. This must be one of his buddies. I put the weights down, I looked at him as I put one of my hands on my hip, while the other was at my side. I raised an eyebrow at him.
"Is it alright if I exercise here?" He asked. Scratching the back of his head.
I rolled my eyes and pointed toward a wall with the schedule. He looked at where I was pointing and got closer to the schedule. He then looked at me and nodded, then walked back upstairs. I waited until I heard the door close and once I did, I got back to the weights. After three hours, I walked up the stairs and opened the door, hitting someone in response. I look and see the same guy. He looked towards me and I motioned towards the basement. He nodded and descended the stairs. I closed the basement door and went back to my room. I grabbed a sleeveless pastel blue dress with red flowers at the bottom that went down to my knees and puffy white slippers. I went to the bathroom, put the dress on the washing machine, I locked the door, undressed, threw the clothes in the basket, and started showering. After a couple of hours, I left the bathroom and went back to my room.
I went to my room, brushed my hair, and braided it. I then sat down at my desk and opened my laptop. I then noticed that someone messaged me on the new account. I checked and finally, my old friend replied.
'The freedom of light, The torture of Night. What would you pick?'
Normal people would answer one of those, but those who have been with the group or have been invited would answer differently. I, on the other hand, had a special answer since the leader gave it to me. So I replied.
'The fox is manipulative, I sigh as I await a reply. But it didn't take a long time. Only a few minutes passed when I got another message.
'The fox ain't a fox'
I quickly grab my phone and look at the time.
'Midnight is a perfect time
Finally, she sends me an app that I need to download. I clicked the download button and went to lock the door and then closed all the windows. I sit back down and put on my headphones with a microphone and connect them to the laptop. When it is finally downloaded, I open it, and then, the melody starts playing. After a few minutes, the music stops, the camera turns on and so does mine.
"Congratulations on joining us, may I ask who you are?" A woman in her early forties said, looking at me. I rolled my eyes and typed in chat.
'One cannot speak of a name, one should not reveal itself. But I'll allow you to know of a nickname that I had for a long time. Fox'
"There seems to be a problem, that name has already been taken." She said with a concerned look. I nodded at her. "I will direct this call to the person you have messaged then, please hold." Without waiting for an answer, she left. I waited for half an hour until finally, I got to see her. Jenny or Le I.
"Hello, I was informed that you have chosen a name-." Before she finished that sentence, I slammed my desk. I saw her jump in her seat and sit up straight. I then pointed toward my throat. Then I started writing through chat.
'It's been a while, Le I. or should I refer to you as Jenny?' I pressed the send button and I saw her eyes grow wide. I saw her eyes shift from me to the message I sent.
"How do you know that?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. I smiled and replied.
'You told me yourself three years ago when I first joined this group.' I hit sent and she looked at me. I saw tears in her eyes.
"Fox? Shadow?" I nodded in response. "What happened? I heard that you were killed! What happened to you? You are completely different from before!" I ignored her questions as always and wrote the time and place to meet up. I also mentioned bringing my stuff. I saw her nod and the call ended.
Finally, I'm starting to get somewhere. I wrote down the time, date, and place on my phone, closing the laptop and taking off my headphones. I changed into my pajamas and got into bed. It will be a bit difficult at the start, but it will get easier along the way. That's how life is. At first, it's hard, but then you just get used to it and it's easier. Well, goodnight to me.
