Ethan Gray’s name flashed across my phone screen, accompanied by the familiar notification chime. My heart skipped for a brief moment, and I leaned forward to pick it up. Why was he calling now? I answered quickly.
“Eden, I think we hit a snag,” Ethan’s voice came through, calm but with a trace of urgency. “The documentation for the healing research competition—it’s missing a signature. I couldn’t locate the final draft in my files.”
I stood, slinging my scarf around my neck in one smooth motion. “Didn’t we finalize everything last weekend?” I felt a twinge of worry creep in.
“Yes, and that’s the problem,” he explained. “I think the completed draft might still be in your study room at the Academy.”
