I watched as the ambulance's red and blue lights reflected off the glossy black exterior of Alexander’s car. The flickering lights painted the narrow alley in chaotic bursts, illuminating the tension surrounding it.
Paramedics loaded Alexander into the ambulance, his face pale, his usual commanding presence completely absent. He was unconscious.
Marcus stood nearby, holding his ribs, wincing dramatically. Unnecessary. He wasn't injured enough to act like he was on death's doorstep.
