Chapter 15: Blocked
(Eden's POV)
The Wolf Council’s gathering hall buzzed with low murmurs, but they were nothing more than background noise to me. My attention was elsewhere, my mind replaying Derek’s trembling words of confession from the neutral territory.
The puzzle pieces about the truth were finally beginning to fit together, but there was still so much left unspoken, so much more to uncover.
Across the room, Ruby gave me a pointed look, her emerald eyes flicking back to her brother, James, who had arrived moments ago, ever the picture of devil-may-care ease. His roguish grin had already charmed several council members into jovial conversations.
But now, he was clearly focused on Ruby.
“Ruby, it’s time to go,” James drawled, his tone light but leaving no room for argument
