The first rays of dawn pierced through the heavy curtains of my room in the Pack House. I had barely managed to sleep, my mind spinning from the confrontation with Alexander last night. The frustration, the anger, and the bitter satisfaction of finally voicing my truth still burned within me. Yet, there was no peace. There never seemed to be in this place.
A sharp knock on the door jolted me from my thoughts.
