Joe decided that he liked the new neighbors. They had lived next door for almost two weeks, but it was the first time he had seen Gloria and Pete Dixon. She was a rather short pretty woman with dark hair and dark eyes and a very nice shape. He found out later that she was twenty-eight. Pete wasn't much taller, and he had brown hair and brown eyes and was a good-looking fellow. Joe found out later that Pete was thirty-four.
Carolyn was an excellent cook and had prepared a delicious meal. Joe arrived just in time to be introduced before time to start eating. After dinner, during which there was very little talk, Joe and Pete went into the living room while their wives washed the dishes.
