KAINE’S POV The more days pass, the more something disturbs me. I can’t describe it but it’s there. My wolf is more restless that it’s ever been. It’s a feeling I can’t shake. Like an itch buried under my skin, festering, demanding to be scratched. It’s Carissa. Or rather, it’s the way I’ve treated her—how we’ve all treated her. The anger, the accusations, the disgust in my voice whenever I spoke to her. I replay it all in my head like a broken record, and the more I do, the less sense it makes. Something isn’t right. My wolf has been telling me this for days. My wolf has never been more restless than it’s been these past few days and it’s not just because we’re away from our mate.
