CARISSA'S POV
I take a deep breath, pushing down the frustration building inside me. Arnold has made it quite clear that he doesn’t approve of me, but I can’t let his opinion drive a wedge between me and my mates. I need to face him, to find a way to bridge the divide. He’s their special advisor, an important part of their world, and it will be better if I get on his good side.
But first, I have to calm Kaine and Jaime down. They are livid at the way Arnold spoke to me earlier, and their anger practically radiates from them. I step closer, placing my hands on their chests. I can feel the tension coiled in their muscles.
