“Sorry doesn’t cut it anymore, Daphne. Your master and I have been trying to teach you the new dimensions of your life, but you refuse to learn. So, you’re going to have to go back to the beginning.”
“What—?” I said, and she shook her head and tugged me into a part of the apartment that I had never been: her bedroom.
All of her clothes had been pulled out of her walk-in closet, and the interior painted black. A water bottle and chamber-pot occupied one corner, and suddenly I understood.
“No, no, please,” I said, but Slinky dragged me forward and threw me in.
“When we think you are ready to learn, then we’ll let you enter the world again; but not before!” The door slammed, and I was plunged into utter darkness.
