Chapter15

~Liv~ His mouth was on mine again and this time it wasn’t angry, it was just hungry, like he’d been starving for months and finally decided to stop pretending he wasn’t. My back hit the counter hard enough that I grunted into the kiss, but I didn’t care, I just grabbed fistfuls of his shirt and yanked him closer, legs parting so he could slot right between them like he belonged there. Which, fine, maybe he did. Rowan groaned low in his throat, hands sliding up under my hoodie…his hoodie, whatever…and his palms were hot against my skin, thumbs brushing the underside of my bra like he was testing if I’d stop him. I didn’t. I arched into it instead, biting his bottom lip just to hear that pissed-off noise he made when I pushed his buttons. “f**k, Liv,” he muttered, pulling back just enough to yank the hoodie over my head and toss it somewhere behind him. Didn’t even look where it landed. His eyes dropped to my chest and he smirked. “Been thinking about this way too much.” “Yeah?” I grabbed his belt loops, tugged him back in. “Prove it.” He laughed, short and rough, and then his mouth was on my neck, sucking hard enough that I knew there’d be a mark tomorrow. I didn’t even care. My hands were already under his shirt, nails scraping down his back because I knew he liked that, knew it made him lose his s**t a little. We stumbled away from the counter, bumping into the couch, then the wall, mouths barely breaking apart. He pushed me toward the bedroom, kicking the door open, and we almost tripped over his shoes again. “You really need to clean up,” I gasped, laughing as he caught me before I face-planted. “Shut up,” he said, but he was grinning, shoving me down onto the bed and crawling over me. I looked up at him….hair messed up, lips red, eyes dark and my stomach flipped hard. He leaned down, kissed me slower this time, tongue sliding against mine like he had all night. My hands went to his jeans, popping the button, and he groaned into my mouth, hips rocking forward. We were seconds away. Clothes half off, my leggings shoved down, his jeans open, everything hot and messy and perfect. And then I panicked. I shoved at his chest, hard. “Wait…wait, stop.” He froze instantly, pulling back, breathing ragged. “What? s**t, did I…” “No, no, you didn’t…..” I sat up a little, heart hammering. “Just… if we do this, we can’t keep calling it fake tomorrow.” He blinked down at me, brain clearly still offline. “Huh?” “You heard me.” My voice came out shaky. “If we f**k right now, we can't get to wake up and act like this is still just the stupid pretend thing we’ve been doing for everyone else.” He stared. I stared back. The room went dead quiet except for our breathing. Then he blurted, “Then let’s stop calling it fake.” I snorted. “Just like that?” “Yeah.” He shrugged, like it was no big deal, but his hands were still on my hips, fingers digging in. “Just like that.” “You’re serious.” “Dead f*****g serious.” He leaned down, forehead against mine. “I’m sick of pretending I don’t lose my mind when you leave pissed off. Sick of checking my phone like an i***t. Sick of the whole fake bullshit.” I swallowed hard. “So what, we’re real now?” “Or,” he said, smirking, “we could do fake with benefits. Like, really commit to the role.” I punched his arm. “You’re such a dick.” “Yeah, but do you like it?.” “Debatable.” But I was smiling, and my hands were back on him, sliding up his chest. “Fake with benefits sounds like the coward’s way out.” “Maybe.” He kissed my jaw, slowly. “But it also sounds hot.” I laughed, but I couldn't help it. “But you have to make me actually fall for you…..” “And you keep stalling…. But yes…” His hand slid up my thigh, thumb brushing the edge of my underwear. “So what’s it gonna be, Liv? Fake with benefits, or are we going full real and terrifying?” I bit my lip. “Fake with benefits. For now.” “For now,” he echoed, grinning like he’d won something. “I can work with that.” He kissed me again, deeper, and I pulled him down, legs wrapping around his waist. We rolled, me on top now, grinding down just to hear him curse under his breath. “Jesus, you’re evil,” he groaned, hands grabbing my ass. “You started it.” “Yeah, and I’m gonna finish it.” We kept going, hands everywhere, mouths everywhere, dragging it out because now that we’d said it out loud ..fake with benefits, whatever the hell that meant…everything felt sharper. His fingers hooked in my underwear, tugging them down slow, and I shivered, rocking against him. He flipped us again, mouth trailing down my stomach, and I gasped, fingers in his hair. “Rowan….” “Yeah?” “Don’t stop.” “I wasn’t planning on it.” He kissed lower, and I arched up, ready to finally…. And then my f*****g phone rang. That stupid bubbly pop song I’d set for my mom because I thought it was hilarious at the time. We both froze. “No,” Rowan groaned, face buried against my thigh. “No f*****g way.” I laughed, half hysterical. “Ignore it.” It rang again. “It’s my mom,” I said, voice high. “She’ll keep calling until I answer. You know she will.” He rolled off me, flopping onto his back with a dramatic sigh. “Worst timing in history.” I scrambled for my phone on the nightstand, still half naked, hair everywhere, heart racing. Hit the answer before I could think better of it. “Hey, Mom,” I said, way too cheerful. Rowan mouthed, Put it on speaker, you coward. I flipped him off. “Livvy! Honey, are you okay?” Mom’s voice was all worried and loud, I knew she didn't care less though. “Bridget, my friends called me ... . She said Kelly, our other friend hear from Laura that Amina saw some video from sasaengs( Bad and obsessive stalkers or stalker fans) something about you and Rowan fighting? People are saying you slapped him!” I closed my eyes. “Mom, it was nothing. We were just…..” Rowan snatched the phone before I could finish, hit speaker, and grinned at me like the devil he was. “Hii mum,” he said, voice all smooth and innocent. “We’re fine. Totally made up.” I stared at him, horrified. “Rowan! Sweetie, hi!” Mom sounded delighted. “Oh good, I’m so glad. You two are so cute together, even when you bicker. Anyway, since you’re both there….why don’t you come over for dinner tomorrow night? We need to see who got to capture our daughter's heart after her heartbreak and I’m making that chicken thing you like, Livvy.” I shook my head frantically at him, “Say you're busy, I don't wanna see them.” He mouthed, Say yes. I mouthed back, I hate you. “Tomorrow?” I said, voice cracking a little. “Urghhhh..”
