Chapter 4 Jasper I walk into the house, and my mom is sitting at the kitchen counter. She does this, when she’s waiting on me, and always has, since I was a kid. This time she’s making a list, probably menu planning meals for anyone who needs them. “How was your lunch?” I ask, wanting to know how things went with Brynn, but not wanting to seem too eager to know the details. “It was good.
