Chapter 4- A Cheat

~Katherine I practically sneaked out of the house way earlier than usual, just to avoid seeing my mum and my future stepdad. I had barely slept a wink the night before. To be completely honest, a part of me had stayed up late just listening, trying to check if he was in my mum’s he was touching her. I felt this unreasonable level of jealousy that made absolutely no sense at all. He was literally marrying my mother. I tried my absolute best to snap out of it as I started up my Porsche. I drove straight to college. The moment I parked, my bestie, Nevaeh, stepped into the passenger seat. She took one look at my face and said, "I have something to tell you." "It feels like you read my mind. I have a lot to tell you. Let's go to the shop first, I'm starving," I suggested, and she agreed. I drove us over to our favorite spot to eat. I usually liked to skip breakfast at home anyway just to avoid my mum. It was funny—even though my mum was incredibly rich, she never gave me any extra money. She paid my tuition and the necessary bills, sure, but that was it. I had to work to get whatever I wanted. I couldn't wait till I turn 21 and finally get my trust fund. It was pretty odd when you thought about it: an Ivy League kid who had to work odd jobs just to buy a breakfast bagel and some coffee. We grabbed our food and got back into the car. Just as I was about to give Nevaeh the whole crazy gist of what happened at my house, our other best friend, Liam, suddenly knocked on the car window. We rolled the glass down, and Liam looked at me with wide eyes. "Girl, you have some nerve showing your face in school today." "What!? Why!?" I sputtered, my heart dropping. "I mean..." Liam looked over at Nevaeh. "She hadn't told you yet?" "Huh? Told me what?" I asked, looking between the two of them. They were both clearly hiding something from me. "Will someone tell me what's going on right now before I scream? One, two..." "Wait, wait!" Liam said quickly. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and turned the screen toward me. My eyes went totally wide. It was picture of Marcus and Latoya Cantrell, one of my best friends!? "This b***h!" I hissed, the blood rushing to my face. "Yeah," Nevaeh sighed from the passenger seat. "I was just about to tell you. Everyone's talking about it Kitty." "What the f**k! He just broke up with me yesterday, over text?" "What?" Liam and Nevaeh chorused, looking completely shocked. "Yeah," I said, dipping my hand into my purse, pulling out my phone, and showing them the text message. "Wait, is he mad?" Liam yelled, staring at the screen. Nevaeh chimed in, "You are way out of his league, Kitty." "Girl, you need to get laid," Liam whispered, leaning closer. "You need a man to get your toes curling." "Liam!" I yelled, my face burning with complete embarrassment. "I'm afraid Liam's right," Nevaeh said with a sigh. "If you don't get f****d soon... I mean, if you don't have someone you're parading around campus, it's gonna look like that prick won. And you don't want that, do you?" "No," I said, shaking my head. "I really don't." But the only total arm candy I could think about at the exact moment was the man who was about to marry my mum and become my stepdad. "Okay, what is it you wanted to talk about?" Nevaeh asked, her eyes widening with curiosity. "Umm," I choked out, my throat going dry. "It's nothing important." --- I drove back into the estate around 2:00 AM, much later than I usually did, just to avoid seeing the happy couple. "Great, it's a good thing you're home," Gwen said the second I walked into the living room. She was staring straight at her phone screen, not taking her eyes off it for a single second. "Umm, why?" I asked, stopping in my tracks. "I need you to do something." I rolled my eyes, feeling completely exhausted. "I just got in, Mum. I'm starving." "You have sufficient food at home, Kitty, and you don't eat any of it," Gwen said without looking up. "One might think you have anorexia." "Mum!" I groaned, crossing my arms. "It's 2026, you're not allowed to say things like that." "Whatever," she said, finally waving her hand in defeat. "You see that laptop bag over there?" "Uh-huh," I answered, looking at the black bag on the side table. "I need you to take it to Bruce at his hotel." I felt my heart instantly start beating rapidly against my ribs. Gwen finally looked up from her phone. "He's going to be your stepfather, Kitty. You can't avoid him forever." "How did you know I was... Whatever" I trailed off, feeling my cheeks get hot. "Why can't you do it?" I argued. "Because I'm trying to find a suitable wedding planner." "Then why can't you get someone else to do it?" Gwen stood up from the couch and walked closer to me. "Because I sent all the staff away for the week so we'd have space to bond with Bruce and his kids. Plus, I don't want him thinking we're high maintenance." "But you are high maintenance," I pointed out. "I know," she said flatly. "Take the laptop to his hotel, Kitty. I'll send you the address." --- A little while later, I drove up to a huge glass building called The Hudson. Hudson, Hudson... where have I heard that name before? Then it clicked. Wait, this was his hotel? And he had named it after his son. I walked into the lobby, feeling completely out of place in my casual clothes. I got to the front desk, where the receptionist scanned my QR code and handed me a key card. Next thing you know, I was standing right in front of his room door. My hands were incredibly shaky, and I tried hard to steady my breathing. I didn't even know what I would do if I saw him. I was just so incredibly attracted to this man. This was way more than a simple crush. Before I could even raise my hand to knock, the door swung open. My heart felt like it was going to explode right out of my chest. "Umm, how did you know?" "Your mum said you were coming," Bruce said, his deep, rough voice filling the space between us. "Your..." I started, holding out the bag. "Laptop," he completed, taking it from my hand. "Come in." I froze. Why was he inviting me inside his hotel room? But before I could even process it, he closed the distance between us. I could feel his breath against my neck. My breathe hitched. He lowered his hand and took the laptop bag out of my hand. "You can leave now!" "Why? What did I do?" I asked surprised and very offended. "Why didn't you tell me who you were when I was..." "Pushing your c**k down my throat?" Bruce's brow arched up, "If I had know who you were, I wouldn't have done that." H e explained. "That can't happen again Kitty-cat. You're like a daughter to me..." "I'm not your daughter and I don't want to be!" I corrected him. He c****d his head to the side, "Alright Kitty-cat. I have a lot of work to do. You can go home now." I stormed out of his hotel room and slammed the door shut. I was so annoyed but I wasn't supposed to be. He wasn't mine, and he could never be. But my p***y said otherwise. I need his c**k inside me.
