When I had finished with my plan, Alex furrowed his brow. “There is a great risk to all of us should this fail.”
I grinned. “There always is when you’re a mortal. That’s one of the perks of living.”
He shook his head. “I don’t understand that, but I remain willing to help you.”
“Good,” I replied as I looked down at the frozen boy. I took a deep breath. “Well, here’s hoping that we all play our parts.”
I opened my arms and the world came back into focus. The vision ended and the world sped up to the eve of a new day. I whipped my head down to Matthew. “Use your light ability!”
