15 “Sage!” Bee shrieked as the water flowed around us. Sage shook his head. “I cannot understand! The tide should not come in for several more hours!” “It changed its mind!” I yelped as I leapt onto the lowest wall of the fountain. “To the tunnel!” he shouted as he grabbed her hand and pulled her in that direction. I followed behind, but the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end. The sensation made me freeze and I whipped my head around. The dark figure of Betz stood on the other side of the fountain. A sly smile lay on his lips and his red eyes glowed in the dim light. “Leaving so soon?” he mused, and his voice rang out in the grotto.
