I responded with a "Okay" as we were taking our seats at tables made of dark wood that had been artfully arranged to give the impression of being cozy and independent. As we were taking our seats, the tables had been artfully arranged to give the impression that each person had their own space. "Would you be so kind as to describe what is taking place?" It was difficult for me to refrain from imitating what he was doing and instead direct my attention to the cup that he was holding. I found myself wanting to copy what he was doing. As soon as he placed his order, I realized how significant it was that he had chosen the smallest size available and black coffee as his beverage of choice. In other words, he had gone with the most basic option. The price of this item on the menu is even lower than that of water, making it the item with the second-lowest price overall. My grandfather would never choose the alternative that was the least priced when he was making a purchase. He always held that if you dress poorly, you are asking yourself to live a terrible lifestyle, and that this invitation is implicit in your choice to dress improperly. Even more than the fact that he was crying, the sight of that single cup of coffee sitting between us on the table set off alarm bells in my head. I was very concerned. It caused me a lot of concern. It's possible that he was crying in order to get an advantage over me in some way, but to pretend as though he was poor? There was, without a shadow of a doubt, a big problem with a variety of parts of the scenario. Suddenly, he spoke the words, "Lucy, I need your help," and they came out of his mouth in the order that they were intended to be spoken. "I am at a loss for what to do to make the situation better because nothing seems to be going the way that it ought to. You are the only person who can successfully complete this duty, and if you are not here to aid me, I will be completely powerless. Please, Lucy, hear my pleadings." Oh my gosh. I got to my feet. I completely lost control of myself and roared at him, "You just said that this was about mom!" "I'm leaving." "Her temperature is rising," the doctor said. The first thing that sprang to my thoughts was that taking a seat would probably be the best and most logical thing to do in this situation. I sat. I blinked. “What?? ?? I said, stupidly. It appeared as though he was crying once more, and this time I was nearly positive that the tears, despite the fact that they appeared to be phony, were genuine. However, I am at a loss to fathom the reason for my father's discontent with the lady he married, and I do not know why he feels this way. To the best of my knowledge, he did not give her another thought after the time had passed for the ink on the marriage certificate to dry. After that, he did not give her another thought at any point. He broke the news to her in the form of a sob as he told her that she has cancer. He was the one who diagnosed her with the disease. I was aware of the briskness in the air. I was attempting to increase the temperature of my body, so I flexed my fingers and stared at the palms of my hands at the same time. "Are you telling me that she has cancer?" "Is that what you're saying?" "Is that what you intend for me to hear from you?" It was a query that had very little to do with the topic at hand. On the other hand, it has only been a few days since the last time we spoke to one another (my mother and I). My father had flown all the way out here to bring me the news that my mother was sick, but why did he make the trip? I don't see why she couldn't just give me a quick phone call and let me know what was going on. The fact that she had already started receiving treatment cannot be called into question under any circumstances. It did not appear that any of this was accurate in any way, shape, or form. My grandfather would occasionally shake his head and wipe his eyes with a napkin as he continued to speak. This would happen several times throughout the conversation. He was explaining that they had known for a week, but were unable to begin the chemotherapy treatment due to the situation. He said that they had been unable to start the treatment because of the situation. I became aware that a dry feeling was starting to develop in my mouth. Why wouldn't it make sense? When he brought his hands up to his face, I was taken aback to see that they were wrinkled and papery, and covered in spots that resembled liver spots. I was also surprised to see that they were covered in spots. A second thing that took me by surprise was the fact that they were covered in spots. They belonged to a more senior guy who was in possession of them at the time and clinging onto them. He cried out, "I'm at a complete loss here!" As my jaw touched the ground, I was so shocked that my mouth fell wide. "What do you mean, everything has been wiped out?" "How can that be?" He was at a loss for words and tried to collect himself by shaking his head while taking a few lengthy, deep breaths in an effort to gather his thoughts. After reviewing everything that had transpired, he finally conceded, "There is no money left." "It is what it is, and there is nothing I can do about it." I pressed my lips together and concentrated my concentration as I did so. "Has it been entirely removed from existence?" At the moment, I had the impression that it was impossible. My great-grandfather achieved so great success that he was even wealthier than King Muller in his day. Where did such a significant amount of money go, and how exactly did it just... vanish? "How in the name of all that is holy were you able to pull off something as audacious as that? Do you personally reside in any of the residences, or do you only rent them out? Are you referring to the automobiles? The totality of the work of art in its finished form? "The effective application of leverage is the secret to success in any endeavor. Everything. I owe him a hundred percent of everything. As a consequence of the shock, I lost all feeling in my body. When we talk about this, are we referring to the corporation, or are we referring to you specifically? “Both.” You must have made it across the rushing waters without getting wet, right? What were the chances that something like that would even occur? It was essential for the corporation to have a significant quantity of stock and assets in order for it to be able to fund any venture, despite the fact that the venture may have been foolish or hazardous. "Nobody else had any information about it whatsoever. My main priority was to launch a brand-new venture under my own name, and I set out to do so as my primary emphasis. But it didn't work. And with regard to the company... well, let's just say that expanding one's own personal financial empire is not nearly as simple as it was in times gone by. We're broke. I'm broke." Nothing more than sitting there without making a sound, that was all I did. The loud and boisterous laughter of another customer could be heard coming from the other side of the coffee shop, and it was extremely quick to get on my nerves as a result of this. "Are you on drugs?" In the end, I stated. "Why on earth did you act in such a manner? What in the world was going through your head that made you do that?" After what seemed like an eternity, he finally put his hands behind his back and clasped them together, but he did not turn his head in my way. His response was "maybe," and that was all he said. "It's possible that what they said was correct." I immediately exclaimed, "Holy s***," to myself within my thoughts. "How much do you owe?"
