Where did the weekend go? Felix groaned and bounced his head against the refrigerator. Sunny’s birdcage was still standing empty on the counter, and he hadn’t mowed the lawn. He gave Gibson a sideways glance. Lexi would be here in a couple of hours. He should walk the ugly mutt, but he didn’t have the energy for any leash-pulling and what if Gibson went bananas like he had yesterday when they’d talked to Kirk? Kirk. A knot formed in his stomach. How could he have dinner with Kirk without telling him he’d killed his cat? He shouldn’t have dinner. He should march over there, knock on his door, and tell him the truth. He’d do it as soon as Lexi had picked up Gibson. Sighing, he pushed away from the fridge and went to search for the ugly rubber duck Lexi had brought for Gibson to play with
