'Would it really be a shame?'
Chloe gave a faint, humorless smile. "When I first learned that Wesley had built a home with Madeline at Brookhaven Residence, I couldn't accept it."
"But that was all a misunderstanding. Mr. Warren and Madeline were only working together under a contract. Look."
Quinn took a photocopied document from her bag and placed it in front of Chloe. "This is a copy of their agreement."
Chloe glanced at it without any change in expression.
Confused by her lack of reaction, Quinn asked, "Chloe, the agreement is real. Don't you believe it?"
"I know it's real." Chloe looked at her and spoke evenly. "I can even accept now that Wesley and Madeline's relationship was nothing more than a contractual arrangement. But too late. The explanations came far too late."
