The nurse who rushed in took one look at Edgar, and her face went pale. "He's having a severe reaction to something. Get the crash cart in here—now." Doctors and nurses hurried in with the emergency cart. Chaos erupted. Edgar could barely open his eyes from the pain. After a quick exam, they wheeled him off to pump his stomach. As they lifted him onto the stretcher, he could still hear Judith's whiny voice. "Oh my God, I didn't do anything. Why are you reacting so badly?" The stomach pumping was brutal. Edgar bent over the bedside, his gut churning like a stormy sea. Tears were forced out of his eyes. Nearly an hour later, he was wheeled back to his room, weak and drained.
