Chapter 2“Sleeping better, Mel?” Angie studied Melissa’s face above the mask before she slipped on her plastic face shield. “You don’t have quite the usual raccoon-look going for you today.” Noticing Courtney within earshot, Melissa felt her face redden. “Um, trying different make-up techniques, that’s all. I saw something on YouTube. Must be working.” Melissa donned her shoe covers and yellow gown and went in to check on her new patient. Joe’s body was gone and there was an old woman now in room 6. She was refusing intubation and probably wouldn’t last the night. Don’t get too attached to this one.
