“Fine,” Captain Sakaso replied. “Let’s get moving.”
Teams One through Three turned left, heading east down the empty road while the others went in the opposite direction. It took all of two minutes to reach Golden Dawn Avenue. Soldiers clustered up against the side of a five-story building, peering around the corner. “We’re clear!” one of them shouted.
Sakaso drew himself up to full height, nodding once. “Teams, One and Three, spread out and find cover. Team Two, hang back and be ready to push.”
The groups he had named ran around the corner and ducked into the gaps between buildings. Rajel sensed several of them as hazy figures who huddled up against walls, waiting for the Ragnosians to arrive, but they were on the very edge of his perception. And they didn’t have to wait long.
