Alex
I wanted to laugh at the beauty in front of me. She's a wild one. Me? Robin's lover? What a joke! Usually, people cowered at my sight. I can't help that I'm six feet, three inches, and two hundred pounds. That's just how my body was built, though some of my friends were right that my muscular build could scare away even the tiniest and most innocent creatures. Even Rocky, my toy poodle, took three months to get used to me. But Daisy was a different story. She did not hold back and talked to me like an average person. Even though her brown shimmering eyes were shaking in fear, I found it amusing and adorable how tough she acted. Even her voice did not waver.
She shocked me at first when she entered the room and stripped without paying attention to her surroundings. At first, I thought she was like any other woman, playing stupid, trying to get attention. I even believed she was in with Robin, trying to set me up so that that rascal could easily escape. So, I put my guard up, but after hearing her name—Daisy—it turns out she was the famous Daisy that Mr. Wilusz had been telling me about. For the past three months, he told me that a young lady was working for Robin, and he wanted to introduce her to me. He thought we would make a perfect fit for each other. I brushed it off, not wanting to get into another troublesome relationship, but after our first encounter, I was interested.
"Who's Natalia? And where's Robin?" she asked as soon as we entered the hospital lobby.
"My sister. Robin is already with her," I responded.
Robin had rushed without waiting for us after receiving that phone call. I had to wait an extra five minutes for Daisy to change into the casual clothes she had brought. Throughout the entire ride, she didn't talk to me, and the first thing I heard from her was Robin's name. It annoyed me that I listened to another man's name from her sweet lips. For some odd reason, there was a sweet tone whenever she mentioned Robin. Mr. Wilusz had said she was single, but what if she harbored feelings for Robin?
"Why do you keep looking for Robin?"
"Because the moment I let my eyes off him, he does stupid things. He's thirty-three years old, and yet he's causing trouble for me. I, who am six years younger than him, must go around and clean up his mess!"
Despite the urge to burst into laughter, I managed to stifle it. Her demeanor was a sight to behold—arms firmly crossed over her chest, a solitary finger drumming a rhythm of impatience against her opposite arm. Daisy's eyes were tightly shut, a picture of disapproval, as if she were a miniature grandma, waiting with a mixture of sternness and affection to scold a wayward grandchild.
We entered the room where my sister was placed; there was Robin. He sat beside Natalia, holding her hand in his as she lay lifeless. The only sound that filled the room was the monitor, which let me know that she was still alive and safe for now. Perhaps Robin really did love my sister. His face was filled with anxiety and worry that he didn't even notice us entering the room. Still, I cannot forgive him. My sister almost took her life because of him. No matter how much she loved Robin or how much of a friend he was to me, he had lost all my respect.
"You! You shameless piece of crap!"
Daisy and I turned around to find Mr. Wilusz striding in anger. My parents followed him. Before we all knew it, Mr. Wilusz approached and slapped Robin. I glanced down at Daisy after she let out a soft gasp. She must have been shocked because I was too. Never in my life have I ever heard or witnessed Mr. Wilusz physically reprimand Robin. This was the first. Robin lost his mother at a young age, and he was Mr. Wilusz's everything. He was easily let off whenever Robin got into trouble after being given a few words. This time it's different.
Our families have known each other for a long time. I always saw Mr. Wilusz as another father figure, and he treated me like another son. Robin and I were practically brothers, so I can totally understand Mr. Wilusz's anger.
"Oh, Daisy, my child. Tell me, where did I go wrong with raising my boy ? What should I do? What should we do," he cried, walking over to Daisy.
"Um.. I'm so sorry, Mr. Wilusz, but I still have no clue what's going on," she replied.
"That bastard got my sister pregnant. Then he had the nerve to tell her he won't take responsibility," I angrily said.
"That's not the truth. I don't know what Natalia told you, but she told me it wasn't my child. She said it was somebody else's—"
"And you were stupid enough to believe her," I said, cutting off Robin.
"What the f**k makes you think I believed her? Of course, I didn't. I know that it is my child she is carrying right now. She had been ignoring me, so I let her be for a few days until her anger subsided. I never thought she would…would do something like this," Robin said. "I love her. I always have and always will."
"Love?! You're a f*****g joke, bro. Don't you dare say—"
"Excuse me, but this isn't the time to argue," Daisy said, silencing Robin and me.
She quickly put her phone away and walked over to turn on the TV. Photos of Natalia and Robin entering and exiting a hotel were all over the news. There were photos of Natalia fighting another woman and Robin trying to break them apart. As I was still trying to figure out how and when all those pictures got taken, the screen transitioned over to a bunch of reporters outside of the hospital.
"I'm pretty sure I got the jest of the story seeing those pictures," Daisy exclaimed and turned off the TV. "While you two were busy arguing, I have already contacted my team and the security team. We're making sure no one gets in right now. The security team will send some guards to ensure that only family members and assigned medical staff enter and exit this room. Meanwhile, until Natalia wakes up, we will track down the person who took and released those pictures. I'll write a public statement once I hear from Robin and Natalia.
"Thank you, Daisy. I don't know what I would do without you," Mr. Wilusz said with his head hung low.
"Of course, sir. I'll do my end of the job until my very last day. If you excuse me, I would go home and lie in my comfy bed. Good night, everyone."
"I'll take you home," I insisted.
"No thanks," she declined.
"Oh, very well, Alexander. Please see to it that Daisy gets home safe and sound," Mr. Wilusz said with a smile.
She gave me an annoyed look as she couldn't say no to Mr. Wilusz and marched out of the room. I could already tell that she was hoping to get away from me, but there was no way I would let her escape. I was determined to make her fall for me. Make her mine.
