Chapter 21

1090 Words
Few hours later the medical ward was dark. Like the late nights she would spend to avoid her feelings after the call from Adrik. She shifted in the bed. She was antsy and needed to just move around outside of the bed. She slowly got out of bed. The cold hard floor made her feel better than the warm soft bed she had been stuck in. She grabbed the pole that held all the things she was hooked up to and walked it out of the curtain room. She wanted to do a lap around before she went back to the bed again. The wheels squeaked every few turns they made. The only sound she heard as she walked the loop.  "You know you're supposed to be asleep and in bed." Tabnam's voice said through the dark room. "What the hell." She grabbed her chest not knowing someone was going to say something to her.  "Yes. What the hell indeed. Why are you out of bed?" "I'm sick and tired of being in there. Also why are you not in your bed?" "Don't feel like it." "Coming from the one who dragged me away from my work to sleep with them." "Maybe that's why I came down here."  "To take me to your room?" She started to laugh. "No." He said in a serious tone. "I know you don't like to sleep."  "I do too, but having to be put under just to sleep ruins the whole fun of sleeping. Plus the wake up and feeling like you have been hit by a ship like this does not help it either." She started to move again. "You should go back to your new bed buddy though while I get back to my bed before I am here long enough for the doctor to catch me and scold me for the millionth time." "Bed buddy?" He moved in front of her. "Yeah, I've heard about the new girl and you so what?" She moved around him. "Leaving a girl alone in bed is not a good thing. They get crazy when their man isn't there." "Okay I'll go then." He turned away from her. Ophelia got back to the bed. She laid down and stared at the ceiling. The thought of the conversation replaying. She started to think that he didn't call her "pet". Did that mean he was actually done with her. Was she free of the feelings he put into her head? Ophelia laid there in thought until it was time for the doctor to come in and check on her. She didn't sleep the whole time. Just thought about the last few months of her life. "Morning." The doctor said, looking at her chart. He walked in and stood next to her. He put the chart down and placed his hands on her rib cage. "I need to breathe against my hands. If everything is good I'll let you go a day early, but that does not mean to help with work you can start tomorrow. Okay now breathe in for me." Ophelia did as she was told. The doctor's hands held tight. She felt some pain but she didn't  want to say anything and it was only hurting then. She let out her breath and the doctor took her chart and wrote in it. "You are allowed to go. I just need to do a few things and I'll have Mr. Hotpants bring you your things." He walked away and Ophelia felt free. It took a few minutes before Griffin came in with a stack of washed clothes. The one thing she noticed that was missing was her necklace.  "Where's my necklace?" She asked. "Tabnam took it." Placed the clothes on the bed by her feet. He went over to her and removed the monitoring devices from her. "He what?" She threw herself back. "What a jerk. He had no right to take that." "Then go ask him for it. You're free to leave now." Griffin walked away. Ophelia got out of the bed and closed the curtain that Griffin didn't close. She removed the items that they had put her in and put on the uniform she knew. She slipped on her shoes and headed to find Tabnam to get her necklace back. She went to the shaft and took it to the floor that Tabnam resided on. The doors opened and she headed to his room. She stopped in her tracks when she saw him and the girl that he picked up. The girl was pulling him into his room. Ophelia turned around and had to get out of there, but she didn't know someone was behind her. "Can you be more of a pain." Ulyssa's voice said loudly to her. "I'm sorry." Ophelia pushed past her. "You should be." She yelled at her. Ophelia wanted to run to her room, but she had to get to the shaft to go to her floor. The door opened as she stepped onto her floor. "Lia, good to see you finally." One of the beings she didn't know said to her. "Thanks." She kept walking to her room. She opened her door and the light turned on.  "Welcome back!" Meri and Aurora said together and hugged her. "Back? I was only down below." She told them. "You don't get it. You are here with us. That is being back." Meri smiled down at her. Ophelia went to go sit on her bed. "No, you don't." Aurora grabbed her. "We have been in bed long enough, it's time for you to come out and enjoy freedom from the bed. The first thing we need to do is get some food." Aurora pulled Ophelia up and dragged her out of the room. They went down to the eating area. Everyone, many she didn't know hugged her and said how happy they were that she was safe and back with them. It got so loud with excitement Ophelia didn't know that everyone liked her so much. The shaft doors opened and everyone turned to see who it was. As they saw the new girl everyone went dead quiet and turned their backs towards her.  She walked up to Ophelia with a huge smile and wrapped her arms around her. "I just want to say thank you for bringing me back to be with the love of my life. I never thought I'd see him again." Ophelia froze as she said those words. Everyone else was looking at her in shock.
