CHAPTER 27

Jim’s POV THE SUDDEN ring of my phone broke the silence. Who could it be? I glanced at the screen—an unknown number. Definitely not the old master; I knew his numbers by heart. Still, I answered. “Hello?” “Good day. Is this the young master’s butler?” The voice on the other end was calm yet firm. “Yes, speaking. And who might this be?” “I am Lady Saphire’s butler. I would like to meet with you in person,” he said, his tone serious. His words caught me off guard. Saphire’s butler? And he wanted to meet personally? Something was off. “What is this about?” I asked warily. “I’ll explain once we meet. It concerns Lady Saphire and the young master’s relationship.” That was all I needed to hear. My answer came instinctively. “When and where?” “Luneta. If you’re free now, we can meet immediately.” I checked the time and nodded to myself. “We’ll be there in less than ten minutes.” Then, I ended the call. Turning to my men, I issued my orders. “Jed, Max, call the others. We’re meeting someone.” They sprang into action, preparing the car while a few stayed behind to guard the house. Once everything was set, we got in and drove off. “To Luneta,” I instructed the driver. Upon arriving, we immediately noticed a Ford parked near two black SUVs. It had to be them. We pulled up nearby and stepped out, just as a man exited one of the vehicles and approached us. “Hi, I’m Guiller, Lady Saphire’s butler,” he introduced himself, extending his hand. “I’m Jims, the young master’s butler,” I replied, shaking his hand firmly. “Shall we talk?” I prompted. “Yes,” he nodded before gesturing for us to move to a more private spot. Once we were far enough, I wasted no time. “What is this about?” He met my gaze directly. “Are you aware of the young master and Lady Saphire’s current situation?” “Yes,” I answered without hesitation. “Then, do you know that the young lady is pregnant?” My eyes widened. “What?” “You heard me.” I struggled to process his words. “That… that shouldn’t be possible,” I muttered, looking away briefly. “I know. That’s why I reached out. We need to discuss how to handle this, since we’re the ones looking after them.” “What do we do?” I asked, exhaling sharply. He took a deep breath. “Their parents must not find out—not yet. I believe you understand what I mean.” I nodded slowly. “I do. But as far as the young master’s parents are concerned, I don’t think it’ll be a problem. They’re understanding people, if you don’t already know.” “That’s exactly what worries me,” he admitted. “You’re aware that Lady Saphire comes from the Tan bloodline, aren’t you?” “Yes,” I confirmed. “I did a background check on her after she started visiting the young master’s condo.” “I never imagined the young master would end up working in a shop,” he mused. “He has his reasons,” I said. “Things with his parents haven’t been the best. I only hope things return to normal soon. But now… I don’t know what will happen.” “Are you certain his parents will accept this, knowing Lady Saphire’s lineage?” he pressed. “The old masters are kind and forgiving. They’ll accept the truth, especially considering what they owe their son. They’ll do anything to regain his trust.” Guiller sighed heavily. “Old Master Luther is different.” I frowned. “You think her father will be a problem?” He nodded grimly. “If he finds out about their relationship, things could get very complicated.” We exchanged a knowing look. “So, we say nothing,” I concluded. “No names, no bloodlines. We keep it under wraps. Agreed?” “Agreed. Let’s hope this works for their sake,” he said with a somber nod. “I’m confident the young master’s parents won’t be an issue,” I assured him. He scoffed lightly. “I wish I could say the same about Old Master Luther. If he finds out, I’ll be the first to take the fall.” “Then we need to keep an even closer watch on them,” I said. “No media exposure, no slip-ups. If this leaks, it’ll be a scandal.” “Understood. I’ll keep you updated whenever they’re with us.” “Same here.” “Thank you for understanding and for agreeing to meet,” he said sincerely. “No problem, my friend,” I replied before walking back to the car. Once inside, we drove off immediately. The moment I stepped inside, Delia met me at the door. “Chief Jims, the old masters just called. They’re still on the line.” I sighed. “Thank you, Delia.” Then, I hurried to the phone. “Old masters, good day,” I greeted respectfully. “Jims, where have you been?” Master Groderick’s voice was firm but calm. “I had a meeting concerning the young master,” I explained. A brief pause. “So, how’s Tristan?” “He’s doing well, sir. He came by the house yesterday, accompanied by—” I hesitated. Should I tell him? “Accompanied by whom, Jims?” the old master pressed. I took a deep breath. “His girlfriend.” “Hmm. Tristan has a girlfriend now?” “Yes, sir. And I must say, he seems different when he’s with her.” “Well, that’s good to hear. Tell me, who is she?” Another deep breath. Here goes nothing. “She’s Lady Saphire Okshield Ravens, my lord.” Silence. “My lord?” I prompted, wondering if he was still there. Then, his voice returned—measured, careful. “Does he know?” I sighed again, though I made sure he couldn’t hear it. “No, my lord.” Another pause. A longer one this time. “How is he with her?” “He’s happy,” I admitted. “Happier than I’ve ever seen him.” “Very well,” he said abruptly. “I need to speak with him. Under these circumstances, you must convince him to return home. The media will go into a frenzy once this comes out.” “As you wish, sir.” “Good. I have work to do now,” he concluded before ending the call. I stared at the receiver for a moment, deep in thought. His tone had been unreadable—was he pleased? Disappointed? Angry? It was impossible to tell over the phone. But one thing was certain. I had a big problem. How was I supposed to convince Tristan to move back home?
