Awake

Emily wakes up to the greeting of the sun , gently patting her face as George pulls the curtains apart.

George ; Wake up Sleeping beauty ( he heads into the living room, all dressed up)

It is Sunday baby, our first here, wake up , let's find ourselves a church to attend

(he yells from the living room)

Emily ; (Disturbed by the urging voice of George who has no idea what her ordeal through out the night was.... she grunts , and sits on the bed)

Think we can find a Church in this town?

George; (enters the room)

Estate babe, it is an Estate

Emily; Okay , Town Estate

George ; What's a town Estate ?

Emily; Well, that's what this place is to me

George ; Anyway I'm sure we'll find one church at least, if not , we'll try outside the Estate. There's plenty of church out there

Emily; mmh ( sighs)

( A while later , the family enters their car, and embarks on their journey to finding a church, they drive around the Estate, waving back at other Residents who waved at them first, smiling, Emily stretches her head out the window of the passenger seat, feeling the breeze on her skin, she's trying so hard not to remember last night)

George; I don't think there's a Church here except for that Catholic we drove past

Emily: We should try outside the Estate then

(For a while they keep driving and keep ending up at their house , a total number of three times they end up at their house , Tiwa begins to find this strange

"Dad , maybe you should let Mom drive , I don't think you know the way to the exit"

)

I'll go ask Mary , hold on honey

(Emily alights the car , and heads to Mary's flat, she knocks aggressively)

"This is crazy"

(Mary Opens up)

Mary ; ( greets her with her usual smile) Emily!

Emily; We're tryna find a church outside the Estate, and we can't figure out the way to the Exit, could you tell me which way to go?

Mary ; Every way leads out of the Estate,but then Every way leads back in.... (smiles again)

Emily; uhm, Mary , I don't understand you

Mary ; Just keep driving, after clinic, there's an Exit

Emily; Okay , thank you. My regards to your family.

(Emily walks back to the car, and enters the passenger side)

She says after clinic there's an Exit

George ; Oh , I should have thought about that... we did drive past the clinic when we moved in

Emily; Yeah, I guess.

( George drive past the Clinic and sees an exit, he enters through and finds himself driving on a road that seems different from the Estate)

Doesn't look like we're heading back into the city, George , where are we ?

George; I don't even know-- looks like a Dead end.

(George suddenly hits the break which causes both Emily and Tiwa to panic, Emily quickly checks on Tiwa who's at the back seat listening to music with her headphones on , "Baby are you okay"? , But Emily's attention is called back to the windscreen when George makes an unusual expression)

What in the world is this?

Emily; (begins to whimper, panting so loudly, with so much fear, her hands begins to shake, trying so hard to hide her shaky hands, she begins to curl up her dress)

You should turn back George!

(She declares in a trembling voice, )

Let's turn back, I can't, I just can't, this isn't happening

(then she yells) "TURN BACK NOW!"

( George whose response to Emily's strange tone proves to be slow out of shock and confused continue to stare at the goat standing in the drive way, with blood dripping from it's neck, and several other sounds on it, he puts the gear in reverse attention to turn around when a call enters his phone)

George ; (picks the call, Emily continues to whimper , burying her head in her dress)

Hello !

Caller; So much for promising protection to your wife, but you can't even watch her at night

( Emily and George's eyes locks , and continues to listen intently to the voice on the other end)

George; Who are you?

Caller : I advised you to take care of your wife at night.

Emily; ( yells at the caller) Who are you, and how are you calling us?

Caller; The one who watches at Night, I see you Emily

(Emily begins to Panic even more )

Emily; Turn back the car now .

George ; (To Emily) Calm down , I think he's with the Estate security

(To the caller) Are you the security?

Caller; You shouldn't let a woman wander off alone at night George (he hangs up)

George; What on earth is going on ? Were you --out, again?

Emily; Yes it happened again. And this time I killed a goat with my bare hands

(Points at the goat in the driveway)

That one !

George; (immediately checks on Tiwa to make sure her headphone is still on ,then back at Emily)

Why didn't you tell me ? And how's the goat you killed alive and in our way?

Emily: I don't know. I'm shocked

(As they talk, Tiwa notices the goat is no longer there on their way,

" Look , the goat's gone")

What , it's not there anymore!

George; (puts the gear on drive )

We'll talk about this when we get home , no more church today!

(he reverses, and drives back to their flat)

(They arrive home and , Mary is on her Porch like every other woman they encountered on their way back home, looking all curious )

Emily; Look at them , weird, completely weird, there's no telling they are the same people who came to the Dinner last night.

George; (parks the car and they all get out, Emily gives Mary a look, and enters the house, Tiwa heads straight to her room as she mumurs the words

"What a weird Estate"

George and Emily enters their room, and George takes the d**g container and hands it over to Emily)

Emily; Stop this! Stop patronizing me!

George; I am not Patronizing you Emily. You need these pills.

Emily; George ! please , stop this .

George ; The pills -- they help, and you know it , so why refuse them?

Emily; I think what we should be talking about is the strange guy that keeps calling you.

George; You heard him, he's security

Emily; He didn't say that

George; Well I'm sure he is, else , how does he know every night you go out.

Emily; (lifts her brows at disbelief)

Okay I'll take it, the pills, let me have it .

.(she accepts the d**g container from George)

(Emily wakes up to the sound of dishes crashing and spoons scraping plates , water running through the faucet , the dangling of tumbler and giggles of children , excited of food , carefully taking light steps towards the living room, a ton of children rampaging their house, eating all of their left overs, desserts , cakes , fruits and even wine, she immediately hurries back to the room, grabs her phone and heads back to the living room dining area , she takes a picture of them, the children hears the capturing sound , they lift their eyes wide and so shining and disappears , Emily shivers , but she manages to have them on camera)

Emily; Children with large eyes (she exclaims, panting)

(she hurries into the room again, waking up George)

George , you need to see this. (he manages to wake up and she drags him to the dining area )

Look at this, the children with the large eyes, they were here!

George; Babe , Does it make you eat now? the tremmor?

Emily; You think I did this? Its not me , I wasn't sleep-walking , I woke up to this , there were children....

( As she continues to explain, George returns to the room to sleep, Emily remains standing unsure as to what to do, she returns to the dining room, sitting confusedly in the mess)

( In the morning, George and Tiwa wakes up to see Emily working so hard to put the kitchen back in order, George makes two cups of coffee and gives one to Emily, he makes tea for Tiwa, as Emily continues to put the washed dishes together, cleaning every surface )

(George and Tiwa sits on the couch, and they begin to work on some assignments he gave Tiwa, explaining to her , Emily is lost as she remains in the dining area, staring at the father and daughter, listening to their inaudible conversations, as If she were deaf...)

George; You do that, and I'll see you when I come back okay

(Kisses Tiwa on the head)

Emily; (shows him the image of the children messing up their house, George glances at the phone for a second )

George; There's nothing here!

Emily; What do you mean , look at this !

George; There's nothing here babe, it's bleak

Emily; (Aggitated ) Oh my God!

George; I don't want Tiwa finding out , your night series. You need to get yourself together.

(Emily continues to listen intently)

The night tremors happen when you're going through stress or depressed, since you know what works for you, how about you find a way to destress , you love to read , get some books, read or write one .

Emily; Why do I feel like you're so eager to make your wife into a sick woman, I'm not sick George, sleep walking doesn't make me sick, and doesn't make me insane either.

George ; (furious) I will never treat you as insane , take the pills and destress, I'm doing my best here to make us comfortable

Emily; Oh , I forgot I should thank you every morning for losing our money George, I don't even know how that happened you know, and blindly, I followed you down here, to this weird - a*s Estate that has no known Exit.

Forgot how we kept turning around the same spot yesterday

George ; I think that's because you killed a spiritual goat .... (he laughs)

Emily; (stands from the chair, angry )

You laugh! George ! Am I Joker to you now?

George; (walking away) I am trying , to not be the man that I've never been

Emily; What's that supposed to mean ?

George; I mean this is hard on me too, you have been depressed about all of this turnover , you're falling apart and you don't even know it!

Our daughter needs you, I need you!

Emily; FOR GOODNESS SAKE, I NEED MYSELF, FOR ONCE, I AM TIRED ! OKAY I'M JUST SO TIRED!

( Tiwa panicks and runs to her room, without saying a word)

George; ( points to Emily's face )

If all crumbles, it is your fault Emily!

( he walks away)

(Emily whimpers, crying softly, as George opens the door and heads out, he stops at the sound of a truck , with boxes of loads on it, and a family car, Emily rushes out to see as well, she stands at the Porch, just like every other women, George enters the car , drives off , the woman in the arriving car , looking so intently at the women standing on their Porches, including Emily, and says

"This is a weird neighborhood, but I love it"

The women giving off the same vibe they gave Emily when her family moved in, and Emily who's lost in her world,

A new family arrives.)
