Amelia entered the house and as usual Asher was already there waiting for her. They both waited at the hall for their grandparents to arrive.
After a while Athena (grandma) and Stefan (grandpa) came downstairs with a warm smile at their grandchildren.
Amelia ran towards her grandma. Hugging her she greeted with a big smile, hi sweetie pie… how are you? Do you miss me?
Her grandma turned her head the other side, humph! I’m not talking with you, she pouted at her like a child. I’m sorry for not visiting you lately, can you forgive me? Amelia gave a peck on her cheeks.
With just a peck her fake anger disappeared, only if you promise me to visit every week I would forgive you, she demanded her. Amelia had no other way but to promise.
Grandma! you always forget me whenever you see Amelia, Asher complained like a child. You… you brat, don’t talk with me until you find a granddaughter in law, she pointed her finger at his face.
Grandma seems you will get a granddaughter in law soon; she teased Asher by winking at him. Really! Grandma and grandpa asked with exciting eyes.
Shut up Amelia, Asher tried to close her mouth with his hands. They had a happy dinner. In a fast running business world, only your family gives you such a warm comfort. Of course! Only a loving family…
Mr. and Mrs. Penelope arrived at the mansion along with Miley.
Asher and Amelia were puzzled as to why they are here. Amelia looked at her grandma quizzically. She replied that; they invited them as they have something important to announce.
Mathew asked his Mother what does they wanted to talk about?
She requested everyone to take a seat and wait for Stefan Penelope to arrive. After a while Grandpa came downstairs. Then he started to talk with a straight face.
“I want every one of you to listen to me silently and not interrupt me while I’m talking” he warned us…
We, Penelope family have a marriage promise between Oakley families. This means, between our ancestor grandparents… and now it’s time to fulfill the promise.
(Asher felt a little happy on the name of “Oakley”, thinking about Mila. )
So, I thought of tying a knot between the first daughter of Penelope with first son of Oakley and the second daughter with second son.
What? First son is the CEO of the Oakley enterprises whereas the second is such a useless one and also been to jail once … you want me to marry him? Miley shouted in anger.
“I warned no one would interrupt me before I finish” grandpa stared at her with fierce eyes which made Miley sit down silently.
I said “I thought of tying the knot, I didn’t say I will tie the knot”.
Even though we have such a thought before, after discussing we changed our decision. So the first son of Oakley will be married to Miley and the second of Oakley will be married to Amelia. This is our decision and no one will oppose it.
Miley and Anna were very happy; they thanked Stefan and left the mansion with Mathew.
(Amelia didn’t say anything, she just kept silent. After the marriage announcement, the only thing that came to her mind was ZAVIER. She herself doesn’t understand why the thought of him bothering her a lot)
Grandpa! I don’t want to get married. You know I hate men, I don’t trust them. She looked at him with gloomy eyes.
I’m sorry dear. It’s a promise we have to fulfill it. Don’t worry dear Grandma and Grandpa has always chosen best for you. He replied her by denying her request.
She never disobeyed her grandparents since she was a child. But she couldn’t accept this marriage, no matter what.
If it’s a promise why can’t we let only Miley get married. Why me?
Dear, this is how the promise is… before 3 to 4 generations, Oakley and Penelope families had a double marriage. Penelope family married off a daughter to Oakley and welcomed a daughter in law… later we welcome two daughter in law from Oakley’s… it’s called double marriage.
Then why not tie the knot between Asher and Mila? Amelia asked with full of hope. Asher too was waiting for his Grandpa’s reply…
No we can’t do that…
Why? Mr. and Mrs. Oakley have already chosen the candidate for Mila. They will be engaged soon… Asher was shocked. His heart hurt for an unknown reason. He felt like the whole world has shut down the way for him. At that moment he understood, that the unknown reason is LOVE… He realized he has already fallen for her.
They both know that they couldn’t do anything. She greeted her grandparents and left the home with Asher. They both were indulged in their own thoughts. Amelia looked at his sad face…
I couldn’t do anything for myself, what I can do for him, she thought in her mind. She called him, but seems he didn’t hear. She called him again waving her hand in front of his face. Asher!...
Oh! Yes Amelia…
I don’t understand why are you sad… so what if Mila get engaged or even marry someone? It’s not like you like her (she added fire to the fuel)…
I love her… Whaat? ? Amelia asked with her wide open eyes.
I love Mila… I love her a lot, he said with a teary smile…
Finally you realized… yes I did, what’s the use? She is going to get engaged…
My dear brother, she is going to get engaged, she is not yet… Moreover her parents selected the candidate; she is not in love… so you still have a chance…
A glimmer of hope with a smile appeared on his face, he thanked Amelia by patting her head. Then what about you? Why don’t you want to get married?
