Jonah started his intonation from the minute they sent the suuvus to the local hospital, and repeated it the whole trip to the police station, up the steps, and into the holding cell. His arresting officer practically ignored him during all this, but once Jonah was locked in the cell, his entire demeanor changed.
“I was waiting for you to stop on your own,” he snapped, “but you just wouldn't shut up! So tell me, why the hell do you keep saying that?”
“Because they're going to kill him!” Jonah fired at him. “He doesn't understand!”
The officer's eyes widened maliciously. “So you have accomplices, boy? Are they going to go up to the hospital and finish the job you started?”
