The Popular OnesJonah and Vera didn't speak on the drive back. It made Jonah think about the last time that had happened, but he reminded himself that that situation had been worlds different. Vera wasn't ignoring him this time; she was just freaked out and preoccupied with her own thoughts. On top of that, she actually wanted his company this time around.
When they arrive back at Colerain Place, Jonah turned off the engine and removed his seatbelt. “Wait for me here,” he said.
“Hell no,” said Vera immediately. “We're together on this.”
Sighing, Jonah didn't say anything when Vera followed him to his destination, which was her young spiritess friend Wilhemina. They found her easily, and she greeted them with a bright smile that faltered when she saw the looks on their faces.
