“A brother. CJ. He’s a bit of a control freak, but I love him. He has two children, a boy and a girl. They’re sweeties. What about you? You have brothers and sisters?”
“A sister, Peg. She’s the family go-to person whenever something needs to happen.”
“My mother was like that,” Michelle said.
“She passed?”
“Yes, fifteen years ago come November. My father is still with us though. He lives with my brother and his family in Ottawa. What about your parents?”
“They’re gone.” He paused and looked off ahead. “So, you enjoying yourself here?”
“Yes, very much. So, umm…you live in Pokhara?”
“Careful, there’s a tripper right there,” John said, pointing to a thin tree root leaping out over her path.
“Thanks, that would not have gone well,” Michelle said and stepped over it. She glanced at him.
