CHAPTER THIRTEEN Although Mother expected me to go out looking for Harry after lunch, I told her I wanted to rest a bit and unpack. As I headed for my room, she called after me, “The longer we wait, the less chance of finding your cat.” I knew she was right about that. From my experience searching for kidnapped children, that was also true. If they didn’t turn up within two days, chances were that when they did, it would be their body that was found.
