CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT The rest of the day was uneventful except that the vial was burning a hole in my bag. I felt restless. I couldn’t concentrate. Rick had gone back for more testing, and I remained with the others. At one point, Maureen asked me what was wrong. “Are you feeling okay, Lauren? You were in the restroom a long time.” “I’m fine. Just an upset stomach.” She raised her eyebrows as if she didn’t believe me. At the end of the day, Rick met me as we all walked to our cars. “Remember, I’m coming to your place tonight.
