Dominic gave Hayden gas money once he agreed to drive Cody and Miles to the mall. They’d gone over a brief history of the world and showed the time-displaced boy how light bulbs worked. Once the shock lessened, Miles acted amazed by it all and asked a million questions.
“You don’t think the mall is going to be too much for him?” Cody asked. “Like sensory overload or something?”
“If you want to teach someone to swim, throw him in a pond,” Hayden said. “Besides, I’m hungry, you want to show him off to Adam, and he’s going to need clothes.”

“What is this mall?” Miles asked from the backseat as they drove through town.
“A lot of stores connected to each other by an indoor walkway,” Cody explained.
“Oh. That seems convenient.”
