Joseph of Infinity Solutions sent flowers to Avon International on the 66th floor for many consecutive days. In the morning, it was a large bouquet of fragrant lilies; at noon, it was replaced by a six-foot bird of paradise standing proudly; and in the afternoon, it was the same melancholy blue tulips every day. These flowers quickly spread throughout the building after being announced by the sweet voice of the receptionist. Even the cleaning lady on the 66th floor smiled every time she saw Evelyn, and her eyes seemed to have a deep meaning.
One day, when the florist was delivering flowers again, Ivan happened to see him coming back. He lifted the corner of his mouth slightly, revealing a sneering smile as if he had been expecting this for a long time, and without saying a word, he went into his office.
Joseph had spent so much money on flowers, but apart from the card on the flowers, he never showed up, not even a phone call. This made Candy exclaim in amazement after questioning Evelyn for a long time and still getting nothing.
Evelyn secretly sighed, thinking that maybe young James still didn't know that this romantic trick of "sending flowers before you arrive" was only effective on innocent young girls full of hope and just entering the world of love. In the eyes of someone like her, who had been through the storms of life, it was just a ridiculous trick.
During their lunch break, while Ivan was away, Candy and Evelyn continued their idle chatter, with Candy holding the instant noodles.
"What about ordinary people like me? I admire them but know my place, so I can only look at them from afar and dare not hope to get close."
"Those who are more giddy, like Sophia Lee from the planning department, are a good example. What girl in the world doesn't dream of a prince? Even though I know it's a dream, I can't help but be infatuated, but I don't dare to take the plunge, so I can only feel secretly sad."
"That sounds very insightful. What is the most enchanted type?" Candy asked with a smile.
"The most smitten type is the one I dislike the most. She relies on her looks and has high expectations, always fantasizing that one day she will marry a prince or be taken care of in a golden house. She doesn't weigh her own merits but daydreams all day long. Ava in Engineering is a typical example."
Evelyn smiled, "As long as Ivan is not married, there is nothing wrong with her wanting to compete."
Candy looked around to make sure the 66th floor was empty before she whispered, "Evelyn, don't defend her. I'm telling you, she said bad things about you in the engineering department."
"Oh." Candy had expected Evelyn to pursue the matter, but she only gave a small response and then stopped as if not interested. Candy was a bit disappointed. "Don't you want to know what she said?"
Evelyn pretended to think, "Did she say I was beautiful?"
Candy snorted, "You wish! She said you only got the job because of your sister's relationship with Ivan."
Evelyn was shocked, "She's that good? She knows about my sister's relationship with Ivan?"
Candy was stunned, "So your sister knows Ivan?"
Evelyn tilted her head slightly and said with some annoyance, "I know she knows him, but even I don't know what her relationship with Ivan is."
Candy was so angry that she reached out to slap her, "After all I've done for you, you make a fool out of me!" She giggled and ducked, and Candy was even angrier, swinging her hands and lunging at her. Evelyn was so frightened that she quickly retreated to the table's edge, only to be chased to the 66th floor. As she ran, she begged for mercy: "Young lady, I was wrong. You're a generous person; don't hold it against me..."
Candy screamed, "My 24-inch waist is incredibly normal, and you called it a life preserver?!"
"Oh my God, I beg you, don't hold it against me - wow, I was wrong, I was wrong! You are not a villain; you are a woman! You're the incomparable and invincible Buddha's Palm of the Universe and the tragic and heartbreaking female warrior, so please forgive me.
"No way! We'll talk after I've had some intimate contact with your buttocks with my series of palm strikes!" Candy was excited, her hands in the air, eager to begin. Evelyn kept shouting, "Help! Somebody help me! I can't do it! Faced with this critical situation, she panicked and plunged headlong into the elevator doors that had just opened.
Ivan only saw a flash of clothing in front of his eyes, and without thinking, he instinctively wrapped his arms around her waist while quickly grabbing Candy's wrist, which she couldn't control.
Candy immediately screamed, "It hurts!"
Evelyn then reacted and, in a panic, pulled his sleeve and said, "Ivan, we were just kidding!"
At that moment, he was stunned, unsure if it was her words or her outburst of affection. He looked at her face, which was as rosy as a peach.
It was the first time he had looked at her so uninhibitedly. His eyes were like the swirling waters of a deep pool, drawing her in and holding her there.
Standing beside Ivan, Ava was the first to react to the confusion and shock. She shouted sternly, "What are you doing? This is a company, not a playground! If you want to fight or make trouble, go home! What kind of nonsense is this?" She said this almost angrily, grabbing Evelyn's arm and pulling her out of Ivan's arms.
Evelyn was caught off guard and stumbled as she was pulled away, and Ivan quickly let go of Candy and held her back with his other hand. But before she could regain her balance, Candy pulled her out of the elevator with a swift hand.
Candy apologized repeatedly by bowing to the elevator door: "I'm sorry, Ivan. I'm sorry. It's all because I was chasing Evelyn and bumped into you." Then she grabbed the dizzy Evelyn's hand and ran off, and the two of them disappeared into the pantry at the corner of the hallway.
Ivan couldn't help but frown as he watched Evelyn being dragged along, stumbling and falling.
Ava snorted, "One is rude and shameless, embarrassing to watch; the other throws herself at you. No wonder she attracts so much attention." She deliberately stopped there, as a wise person usually only needs to hint at things. Maintaining a certain grace and reserve in front of the person you love is still necessary.
Ivan smiled faintly and did not react to her words. When he returned from lunch in the annex, he met Ava, who was waiting for the elevator. Holding her documents, she walked hesitantly but determinedly toward him, saying that Charles was out and that she had some questions about the Infinity Solutions plan that she wanted to ask him directly. Before he could respond, the elevator arrived, and she followed it without saying a word, asking question after question to the 66th floor.
After pushing open the office door, he asked the person still following him, "What else doesn't Ava understand?"
"Oh, yes," Ava said nervously, looking away from the side of his face and hastily flipping through the documents, "and here-"
He glanced at them and answered for her. Ava pointed to a few more places, desperately trying to find something to say, and he explained each one. When she ran out of words and had no excuse to stay in his office, she had to say, "Thank you, Ivan. You've made an effort today. I'll get back to work."
Ivan smiled and said, "That's okay; a diligent and curious attitude toward work is praiseworthy. If other employees have the same character as you, Avon International will have better development in the future.
Ava beamed at the praise and said, "Ivan, you're too kind. I'm just trying to do a better job and contribute as much as I can to the company so that I can reflect the value of the people of Avon International.
Ivan listened intently and nodded, "Well, that's commendable. As he nodded, he seemed to think of something: "But just now, I saw that you didn't even understand some basic principles, so it seems Charles didn't guide you properly. You must know that the technical department is unlike other departments; solid theoretical knowledge is necessary. Not only is he neglecting his duties, but he is also severely limiting your development."
He picked up his pen and scribbled furiously: "How about this: the company has a talent reserve plan. You give up your job and go on a three-month training course. When you return from training, Claire will make other arrangements based on your strengths and advantages."
