"I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to spill my drink on you. Are you okay?" Rihanna sighed and dabbed at her shirt with a napkin. "It's okay," she said, though she didn't sound particularly convinced. "Just be more careful next time." Rihanna still focus on the wet spot finally looked up, immediately recognizing her ex girlfriend Mandy. Rihanna's heart sank as she realized who had spilled the drink on her. Mandy had been her first love, but their relationship had ended in heartbreak. They had tried to remain friends, but it had been too difficult for Rihanna. She had never truly gotten over Mandy, and now here she was, standing in front of her with a sheepish expression on her face. Rihanna's mind was racing as she tried to think of something to say. But before she could speak, Mandy broke the silence. "Rihanna, I'm so sorry," she said, her voice shaking. Rihanna was speechless Over eight years ago, that was the last time she saw mandy. The sight of Mandy after Rihanna’s this time was like a punch to the gut. Rihanna had spent so long trying to forget about her, and now she was standing right in front of her. She felt a strange mix of emotions, from anger to nostalgia to sadness. She didn't know what to say or how to react. "Rihanna, please say something," Mandy said, her voice cracking. "I didn't mean to ruin your night like this. I just... I just wanted to see you again." "Why?" Rihanna said, finally finding her voice. "Because... I still care about you, Rihanna," Mandy said, her eyes filling with tears. "I never stopped caring about you. I know it's been a long time, and I know I hurt you when we broke up. But I want you to know that I never stopped thinking about you. I just didn't know how to reach out." Rihanna stared at Mandy, trying to process what she was hearing. A part of her wanted to tell Mandy to leave, that she didn't want to hear any of this. But another part of her was curious, and wanted to hear more. "Why did you wait so long to reach out?" she asked, her voice quiet. Mandy took a deep breath and said, "I was scared. I was scared that you wouldn't want to hear from me, and that I would just make things worse. But I finally decided that I couldn't go on without telling you how I feel. I still care about you, Rihanna. And I'm sorry for everything that happened between us." Rihanna didn't know what to say. She was overwhelmed with emotions, and she felt like her mind was spinning. Mandy was standing there, looking so vulnerable, and Rihanna could see the sincerity in her eyes. Despite everything that had happened between them, she couldn't deny that she still cared about Mandy, too. "I don't know what to say," she said, her voice shaking. "I'm just... confused." Mandy took a step closer to Rihanna and said, "I understand. This is probably a lot to take in. I just wanted you to know that I'm sorry, and that I never stopped caring about you. I hope that, one day, we can be friends again. But I understand if that's not something you're ready for." Rihanna stood there, trying to make sense of everything that was happening. A part of her wanted to run away, to avoid dealing with the feelings that Mandy's words were stirring up. But another part of her wanted to give Mandy a chance, to see if they could repair the damage that had been done. "I need some time to think," she said, finally. "I just... I need to process all of this." Mandy nodded, a sad but understanding look on her face. "Of course. I don't want to pressure you or make you feel uncomfortable. I just wanted to tell you the truth. I hope you know that I'm not the same person I was back then. I've changed, and I want to be better. And I hope that, one day, you'll be able to see that." Rihanna looked at Mandy, really looked at her, and she saw that there was a sincerity in her eyes. She could tell that Mandy meant what she was saying. But Rihanna still wasn't sure how she felt about it all. "I'll think about it," she said, hoping that would be enough for now. "I'm going to head home, though. I need sometime to process everything." "That's okay," Mandy said, understanding. "I'll be here if you ever want to talk." Rihanna nodded and gathered her things, then headed out the door. As she walked down the hall, she couldn't help but think about what Mandy had said. She had changed, that was true. But was it enough? Could she really move on from what had happened? The questions swirled around in her head as she made her way to the parking lot. She got into her car and drove home, lost in thought. But when she got there, she was greeted by a warm hug from her dad. "Welcome home, sweetheart," he said, a smile lighting up his face. "How are you doing?" Rihanna returned the hug, feeling the love and support from her dad. "I'm doing okay, Dad," she said. "But I have a lot on my mind." "That's understandable," he replied. "You've been through a lot. But I want you to know that you have our support, no matter what. We're here for you, no matter what." His words were like a soothing balm, and Rihanna felt a At peace, she would rather be with her parents in this moment. At their house rather than her boring home. As she sat at the dinner table with her family, enjoying a home-cooked meal, Rihanna realized just how much she had missed this feeling. The warmth and familiarity of her family, the comfort of her childhood home. It was a stark contrast to the cold, lonely paint house she had been in for the past few weeks. And as she looked around the table, she felt grateful for her family. For their love and support, through the good times and the bad. She knew that no matter what happened, they would always be there for her. She took a deep breath and smiled, knowing that everything would be okay. At the coffee shop, I was scrolling through my phone, I had just seen a picture of a very beautiful woman. I tsp the like button in a bid to comment. When Ava works in excited about something. Ava looked at her phone and smiled when she saw that someone had liked her photo. She was scrolling through her notifications, when she saw a comment from someone she didn't recognize. "Wow, you're stunning!" the comment read. Ava felt her heart flutter at the compliment. She looked at the profile of the person who had left the comment, and her heart skipped a beat. It was the same person who had stopped replying to her messages a few weeks ago. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves. What should she do? Should she reply? Or just leave it alone? After a few minutes of deliberation, Ava decided to take the plunge and reply to the comment. She typed out a quick "thank you," and hit send. Her heart was racing as she waited for a response. A few minutes later, her phone buzzed with a new notification. She opened it up, and saw that the person had responded. "You're welcome! I'm glad I could brighten your day," the message read. Ava felt a mix of emotions as she read the message. On the one hand, she was happy that the person had responded. But on the other hand, she couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. She had hoped that the person would have said something more meaningful, something that would have sparked a conversation. But instead, the reply felt like a brush-off. Ava wondered if she should try to start a conversation anyway. Maybe there was still a chance to connect with this person. Or maybe she was just setting herself up for more disappointment. She was so conflicted, she didn't know what to do. Should she respond, or just leave it alone? As Ava was wrestling with her decision, her phone buzzed again. She looked at the screen, and saw that it was a message from someone else. It was her friend, Lily, who was checking in to see how she was doing. Ava was relieved to have a distraction from her internal debate. She opened the message and responded, "Hey Lily! I'm doing okay, just a little stressed out. How are you?" The response from Lily came quickly. "Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling stressed. I'm here if you need to talk. And I'm doing pretty well myself, thanks for asking! Just busy with work and life as usual." Ava smiled as she read the message. It was nice to have a friend who was just there to chat, with no hidden agenda or ulterior motive. "It's great to hear that you're doing well!" Ava typed back. "Life can be a lot sometimes, but I'm glad to know that you're busy and doing the things you love." Lily responded quickly again. "You're the sweetest! Thanks for saying that. And it's always good to hear from you too, even if you're feeling stressed. Ava's heart skipped a beat at the suggestion. It had been a while since she had seen Lily in person, and the thought of spending time with her friend was very appealing. But she also felt a bit of trepidation. Would it be awkward after all this time? Would they have enough to talk about? After a moment of hesitation, Ava decided to take the plunge. "I'd love to meet up!" she typed. "It's been too long! Are you free this weekend?" Lily's reply came almost immediately. "That's the spirit! I'm definitely free this weekend. How about Saturday afternoon, at the cafe near your place? We can grab a coffee and catch up on everything that's been going on!" Ava couldn't help but smile as she read Lily's message. The thought of spending a Saturday afternoon with her friend, sipping coffee and chatting, sounded like a dream come true. "That sounds perfect!" she typed back. "I can't wait!" "Great!" Lily responded. "I'll see you there! I'll bring the good vibes, you bring the conversation starters ?" Ava laughed out loud. Lily always knew how to put her at ease. " You've got a deal," she wrote back. "I'll make sure to bring my A-game . Can't wait to see you!" Lily's reply came almost instantly. "It's a date! See you on Saturday at 2pm. I'm looking forward to it ." Ava's heart fluttered as she read the message. Even though they were just friends, she couldn't help but feel a little giddy at the thought of seeing Lily again. "It's a date!" she wrote back. "I'll be there with bells on " The rest of the week flew by, and before Ava knew it, Saturday had arrived. She woke up early, got dressed, and did her hair and makeup, wanting to look her best for her coffee date with Lily. By the time she was ready to leave, her nerves were starting to kick in. "You've got this," she told herself, as she headed out the door. As she walked to the cafe, she couldn't help but feel butterflies in her stomach. But as soon as she saw Lily's face light up when she walked through the door, all of her nerves melted away. "Hey there,"Ava!" Lily said, standing up to give her a hug. "I'm so glad you're here!" "Me too!" Ava replied, hugging her back. "It's been way too long!" They sat down at a table, and the conversation flowed easily. They talked about everything from work to family to the latest movies. Time seemed to fly by, and before they knew it, they had been talking for hours. "It's getting late," Lily said, checking her watch. "I hate to end the fun, but I should probably get going." Ava felt a pang of disappointment at the thought of their time together coming to an end. But then, Lily said something that caught her completely off guard. "Hey, I know we're just friends and all," she began, her voice a little hesitant. "But I was wondering if you wanted to go on a real date sometime? Like, a romantic date?" Ava's heart started to race. She had never thought of Lily in that way before, but now that the idea was out there, it seemed like the most natural thing in the world. "I would love to," she said, a smile spreading across her face. "When?" "How about tomorrow night?" Lily suggested, her eyes shining with excitement. "We could go out to dinner, and maybe catch a movie afterwards?" "That sounds perfect," Ava replied, her heart feeling lighter than it had in a long time. "I can't wait!" They said their goodbyes, and as Ava walked home, she couldn't help but feel like she was walking on air. She had a date with her best friend, and the thought of it filled her with a sense of happiness she hadn't felt in a while. She couldn't wait to see what the future held. As the days passed, Ava found herself getting more and more excited about her date with Lily. She spent hours getting ready, picking out the perfect outfit and doing her hair just right. She felt like a teenager getting ready for her first date, and it was a feeling she had missed. When the day finally arrived, Ava felt a mix of nervousness and anticipation as she waited for Lily to arrive. When she heard the doorbell ring, her heart started to race. She took a deep breath and opened the door. There stood Lily, looking even more beautiful than usual. "Hey there," Lily said, a smile on her face. "You look amazing!" "Thanks, you do too," Ava replied, blushing slightly. "Are you ready to go?" Lily nodded, and they headed out the door, making their way to the restaurant. They chatted and laughed as they walked, the conversation flowing easily. The anticipation Ava felt was starting to turn into something else, something more. Something she couldn't quite put a name to. When they reached the restaurant, they were seated at a cozy table in the corner. The lights were dimmed, and there was a gentle jazz playing in the background. It felt like the perfect setting for a romantic evening. "So, what are you in the mood for?" Lily asked, opening up the menu. "I'm not sure," Ava replied, feeling a little flustered. "What do you recommend?" Lily gave her a few suggestions, and they decided to share a few dishes. As they talked and ate, Ava could feel the chemistry between them growing stronger. She found herself wanting to reach out and touch Lily's hand, but she wasn't sure if that would be appropriate. She didn't want to ruin the moment, so she kept her hands to herself. But then, Lily reached across the table and took Ava's hand in her own. "I'm so glad we're doing this," she said, looking into Ava's eyes. "I've been wanting to do this for a while now." Ava was surprised by the admission, but also thrilled. "I have too," she said, her heart racing. "I just didn't want to ruin our friendship." "Don't worry about that," Lily said, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. "Our friendship is only going to get stronger from here."
