Nic scanned the small parking lot of the mini mart. The shopette was a favorite place of the local enlisted from base. It was within walking distance from the base, and had alcohol, cigarettes, and lottery tickets. What more could a young soldier need? Nic double-checked the small list Claire had sent with her, crumbled it, and tossed it into the cup holder. She could remember four items.
