Chapter 27

918 Words

CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN Linda drove miles and miles through congested cities and lush forests. Her goal was to make it up to Vermont, where the longest river in New England begins to flow south. She traveled along the Adirondacks, past the Green Mountains, and enjoyed a small picnic at Lake Champlain, where she stayed overnight. She then headed east, towards Bellows Falls, and the Moore reservoir, which continued south as the Connecticut River. During her travels, she met campers, fishermen and hikers everywhere who were kind enough to share their knowledge of the area. Soon, she learned to follow signs to bait and tackle shops, which led her right to river front campgrounds. When fishermen asked why she traveled alone, she’d hold up a notepad and say something about being a travel writer.
