3 Testify Against Him

"Impossible! Nicholas won't do that," Vivian shook her head. She believed Nicholas hated her, but at least, he had rock bottom and was filial to his grandfather. All over the years, he tested her but didn't do any harm to her. Moreover, William cared about her the most when he was alive. Even though Nicholas didn't want to marry her, Vivian didn't think he would end her life, for his grandfather's sake. "Think Nicholas a gentleman, huh?" Charles snorted. "How could he have become the president of Moore Group if he hadn't been heartless? How could he have kicked you out that night if he hadn't been cruel? When my father was alive, he didn't treat you well. Now that he passed away, and you were the cause of his death. Nicholas will definitely kill you. Understand?" He was telling the truth. Vivian was startled, looking at him blankly. "Seems you also know it, right?" Rubbing his chin, Charles continued, "Of course, if he only detests you, he doesn't need to kill you. However, my father gave you 5% of Moore Group's share, according to his will. Do you have any idea how much they cost? Nicholas doesn't care about you, but how could he not care about the shares? Do you think he'd be so generous as to give up on Moore Group rather than marry you? If he's willing, he has too many ways to get rid of you." Vivian had never thought of receiving 5% of the shares. She was rendered wordless. Seeing that she was slightly convinced, Charles wore an evil smile and approached her closer. "I want you to do me a simple favor. As long as you can announce Nicholas is impotent at my father's funeral, and tell the public that was why he kicked you out one month ago, I'll give the 5% shares to you and compensate you. After that, you can go abroad or move to another city. All up to you. What do you think?" As he spoke, he pulled out a recorder. "I'm not pushing you. Listen to this audio recording. You'll know what to do." He pressed the button to play. Nicholas' deep voice echoed in the small room. "Vivian Chapman, a driver's daughter, really has an appetite. She thought she slept with me, then could marry me? Ridiculous! "She broke the hostess' token. It's a good sign. Other family members will think she doesn't deserve to be my wife. "She can't marry into our family. I'll never let her take away the Moore Group's shares. She made my grandfather die. Send her to jail. Who cares if she will survive inside or not? At least, she should learn a lesson there." Vivian had recognized his voice and knew what he was talking about, but she suddenly couldn't understand his meaning. "It's fake. You lied to me. I don't believe it." She froze, her face paling. She shivered so hard that her gritted teeth clicked. How could it be possible? She thought desperately. Even though Nicholas hated her to the core, how could he be so indifferent when mentioning his grandfather's death? Vivian didn't think he could be so heartless. "It seems he has deceived you all over the years," Charles took a step back with a sneer. "If you don't believe me, I can let you out. See if he's willing to meet you or not. Then you'll know I'm telling you the truth." Then he opened the door for her. Vivian rushed out of the room without stopping. She went to Nicholas' villa but was stopped by the guards. "Master Nicholas isn't home. Sorry, Ms. Chapman. You cannot enter." William had just passed away, so all Moores were supposed to be busy. Nicholas would be the next master of the family. How could he not be at home? Vivian didn't buy it. "Please tell him I have something important to tell him. It's essential for the Moore family's future." She thought her excuse could convince the guards, but they became more impatient. "Master Nicholas is always busy. Even if he was home, he wouldn't make time to see you. Please don't give us a hard time, Ms. Chapman." As they spoke, the villa gate was about to shut. Vivian didn't give up, pulling the gate to enter. She insisted on meeting Nicholas and questioning him. "Stop it, Ms. Chapman. Please don't!" In the chaos, a harsh honk from a vehicle sounded out. Vivian looked back instantly, noticing Nicholas's stern side face in the approaching luxury car. "Nicholas!" She trotted to him. No matter what happened between them, they lived under the same roof for years. A hint of joy rose subconsciously in her heart. She thought he was coming to help her out. But soon, she stiffened. The vehicle didn't stop because of her approach. It got increasingly closer to her and almost knocked her over. Vivian was baffled. While she was in a daze, the car hit her. Although it wasn't fierce, Vivian staggered backward. The crash broke not only her kindly intention to talk to him, but also the last hope in her heart. "Drag her away," Nicholas' lips parted, narrowing his gaze on her in disdain while ignoring her tearful eyes with consternation. Two bodyguards in black got out of the car, taking her arms on either side. They dragged her aside, and the car passed her by. The gate was closed, separating the decisive car from the miserable woman. Vivian's eyes dimmed utterly. She blamed herself for being so silly. Yesterday, Nicholas had almost been forced to marry her, and William died because of her. Nicholas must wish to lock her up until she died. How could he forget the grudges and listen to her? Trembling, Vivian returned to the small villa that she stayed in and got changed. After that, she went to William's mourning hall. She was pretty lucky. There was no one in the hall at that moment. Vivian went to the coffin, looking at William's black and white portrait on the table. While bowing, she couldn't help shedding tears. "What should I do, Mr. Moore? If I want to survive, I must cooperate with Charles Moore. If I refused to help him, no one else in the Moore family would help me. What should I do if Nicholas sent me to jail for real?" "Then do as I said," Charles' voice suddenly sounded out behind the curtains. Shrewdness shone brightly on his face, which looked slightly like William's. He coaxed her, "Let's cooperate to get rid of Nicholas. Then you can have freedom and money and do whatever you want. Isn't it wonderful?" "You..." Vivian blinked her tearful eyes. "Can you really help me? Can you guarantee I'll be safe and sound?" "Of course," Charles almost clapped in joy. "I've been preparing for the past few years. I have many spies around Nicholas. As long as we cooperate, he'll be doomed." Vivian raised reddened eyes and darted at him. Then she looked down at her toes, lost in thought. After a long time, she seemed to make up her mind finally. Raising her head in disappointment, she agreed, "Okay. I'm in." The following day, William's funeral was held. As an influential person in La Costa, his funeral was grand. The Moores arrived at the scene pretty early. Many bigwigs also attended. Much to their surprise, Nicholas was late for such a momentous occasion. He didn't arrive in a rush until the funeral almost started.
