6 It Was Over

That evening, 202 million dollars were wired to Vivian's bank account, along with a message. "The rest will be transferred to you as dividends later." It had been a lot of money for Vivian. She didn't calculate how much the 5% share cost in total. She started packing after receiving the money. Soon, she put all her belongings into a small suitcase, including the certificates of honor at school and some meaningful souvenirs. She didn't take anything or gifts from William or other Moores, leaving them all in the small villa. At five in the morning, she left in the mist and arrived at the apartment nearby her college. She rented it after being kicked out of Moore's Manor. It became her home in the future. After napping until noon, she had lunch and started to prepare to study abroad. Since Nicholas disdained her when she tried to decide her major, Vivian chose to study medicine. Medical School at the University of La Costa was globally well-known. To match him, she planned to go abroad for further study in the best medical school in the world. Therefore, she also worked part-time to save money. After receiving William's legacy, she became wealthy. She no longer had to save money or wait for graduating college. Instead, she could leave here immediately. She didn't think Charles would let go of her. Therefore, Vivian now wanted to apply to a university abroad to change her environment and dodge him. In the following days, she got her application ready and submitted it. Then she moved out of the apartment and into the college dormitory. Vivian spent all her time in the library. She was afraid of going out, and also, she didn't want to waste her time. One day, when Vivian finished studying till late in the evening, she felt dizzy once she stood up. She had to sit back down, patting her chest to repress the disgust. However, her stomach was turning. She wondered if she had been exhausted or eaten something wrong. Frowning, she opened her vacuum cup for water, but she felt more disgusted. Even the water became bitter. She vomited immediately. Covering her mouth, she trotted into the bathroom and threw up miserably. Looking at her pale face in the mirror, Vivian suddenly recalled that her period was late this month. After she had been kicked out of Moore's Manor that night, she had been bothered by many things and didn't take the morning-after pill until the following evening. I got pregnant? Vivian was baffled and had to go out. Wearing a mask, she went to a pharmacy on the backstreet and got a pregnancy test kit. On the way back, before she entered the college gate, a group of people rushed over to block her path. "Finally!" the girl in the lead yelled harshly. It was Joyce. "Vivian Chapman, you do have balls. How dare you trick my father! You do have a death wish, don't you?" Vivian was shocked. Subconsciously, she covered her belly. Joyce cursed her more viciously, seeing her dodge, "Our Moore family brought you up. You have relied on us over the years. For just a little bit of money, you made a fuss. You heartless b***h! Don't you have any pangs of conscience for gaining money by framing my father?" All her money was from William. No matter if Vivian wanted to spend it, it belonged to her. She didn't get it by framing Charles. She had tolerated Joyce for 19 years. Since she was no longer one of the Moore family, she decided not to bear her anymore. "No matter what Nicholas has done to your father, Charles has evil intentions and deserves it. I have nothing to do with it. You shouldn't bark at me." "How dare you talk back!" Joyce raised her hand to slap her. Vivian still didn't feel well. She was hit off-guard. Joyce continued, "If you hadn't agreed to help my father and broke your word later, how could my father have ended up this way? You are just a homeless b***h good at fawning my grandfather. You earned money because of framing my father. Think you'll have a good life if my father suffers? Think it's so easy for you to fool around Nicholas, huh?" Under the moonlight, Joyce's eyes reddened in hatred. She looked horrible. Vivian dared not to continue talking to her, afraid her possibly-existed baby might be hurt. She turned around and was about to run away, but Joyce gave her no chance. She grabbed Vivian's long hair and dragged her violently. Vivian fell to the ground. "b***h!" Joyce cursed, stomping on the back of her hand, crushing it. The sharp pain traveled through her veins. It hurt so much, and Joyce had helpers. Vivian couldn't escape at all, trying her best to huddle up to protect her belly while they hit her. For how long the t*****e lasted, she didn't know. The pain made Vivian unable to utter any word. Joyce was tired. She pulled out her phone and shot several photos. "That's all for today. It's just the interest. I'll get even with you later." Vivian lay prone on the floor, waiting for the pain to ease. After feeling better, she struggled to stand up. As soon as she moved, her body ached fiercely. Remarkably, her lower abdomen had a bursting pain. Vivian feared. She was afraid she had been pregnant and something had gone wrong with the baby. She fumbled for her phone that had dropped to the ground and dialed Nicholas' number. She was always obedient to Nicholas, whether on that night a month ago or at the funeral a few days ago. She followed his orders and never objected to his decision, whether he faked it. Vivian knew he disliked her, but he was the father of the baby in her belly. He was also the only one who could suppress Joyce. She hoped Nicholas could take care of her for the sake of her sensibility. "Hello. Who is that?" Vivian heard a woman's sweet voice after waiting for a while. "Nicholas is in a shower. Ms. Chapman, I can pass your message to him." Vivian's heart sank, her hands pinching the phone, trembling slightly. Does Nicholas have a girlfriend? Did he eagerly want to send me away because he had already fallen in love with another woman? Vivian wondered if he had cheated on her before calling off their engagement and if that woman appeared before or after Nicholas had s*x with her. She realized he meant it when telling her she didn't deserve her. At William's funeral, he defended her because she was sensible enough. He simply called off their engagement without giving her an explanation. "Ms. Chapman? Hello, Ms. Chapman. Are you still there?" Cynthia Gibson raised her voice, "If you have any emergency, please wait for a moment. I'll ask Nicholas to answer the call now." "No, thanks." Vivian used all her strength to pretend herself from breaking down. She hung up and blocked Nicholas' number. It's over. Her inner voice said. She reminded herself that the relationship between her and Nicholas had ended forever from tonight.
