11-Blue Skies

I don’t remember the last time I ever got the chance to see the world on a different point of view. With Alalia enjoying the cold air and letting her wings breakthrough the skies, I kept my eyes open. I watch as birds flew away as we pass by, how the lakes reflected the perfect wolf form of Alalia and how the trees simply sway, as if giving us the space to fly through. Alalia enjoyed her time in the air and when she’s finally satisfied, she perfectly landed to where a garden of daisies grew. She laughs when fireflies started to fly around her, its as if they recognize who Alalia is that they didn’t twinkle away, but instead, they danced around with Alalia. Without her telling me how she’s feeling, I think it is safe to say that she’s happy. Soon after, she stops moving then she snaps her attention towards the woods. There stoop in all four, Alpha Clyden’s wolf. He blended well with the woods, his jet-black fur, almost light the midnight sky and his silvery gray eyes, hid him like he was just another part of the deep forest. If it wasn’t for Alalia’s heightened senses, I wouldn’t have noticed his presence. He was then joined by beta Ello’s wolf, Tarin if I recall his name right, his build was as big as the alphas wolf but his grayish fur, almost white, almost perfect, took me by surprise. Tarin has always been pretty, so don’t be so surprised. Alalia teases me, obviously having the same consciousness as her makes her readily aware of whatever if it is that’s running inside my head. “I see you’ve grown into a fine tracker Tarin, you have always been such a talent. It’s a shame that you can no longer take what was supposed to be yours.” Alalia spoke again but only to taunt the poor beta. It feels like, taunting others and making them angry, excites my wolf. Both the Alpha and Beta went behind the trees to shift back and wear their clothes. It was Alpha Clyden who comes out first and willingly walks towards me without a hint of fear or doubt. When he was in front of me, Alalia stood tall but even with her doing that, the Alpha still looked big and powerful. “I am not afraid of you nor I am intimidated by your great power, however, with my wolfs request, I’d like to offer you a place. He says he owes you a lot and would want to give you the peace that you deserve. The pack land is big, and we have terrains to which you can freely run without anyone needing to mind your business. You can gather your strength while residing within my lands, however in exchange, you’ll have to allow me and make Cyndra a part of my pack.” Alalia tilts her head to the side to check on beta Ello, he was already out in the open and waiting for the next move. Alalia then watched the Alpha as if she was waiting for him to get angry, testing him how long his patience and this calm part of him will last. She’s aching for a fight and I can feel it all. A tingling sensation that’s coming from my stomach, exciting every muscle I don’t think I had if it wasn’t for Alalia. “She was supposed to fight you today to prove her worth, wasn’t she? How about we do it right here? Right now? I have been dormant for many years and my body is aching for an equal fight.” As if to prove her point, Alalia took a stance, preparing herself to be tackled or something, but the alpha didn’t give in. “That won’t be necessary. Even before this day, I have reconsidered making Cyndra a part of the pack, I only intended for her to get stronger, confident even, before officially introducing her to the whole pack. As you may have heard, my pack is currently one of the biggest packs in the world, I have trained warriors here, making omega’s into assets and created a network of information that is above everyone else. Introducing Cyndra the way she was before would only cause a series of debate that could subject Cyndra to even more rejection and embarrassment. So the wisest decision was to do this.” I wanted to doubt his words. I wanted to not believe everything that he was saying, being here after a month and doing all the things he wanted me to do, become someone who is worthy of being part of a pack and now this. Now he’s telling Alalia, who is a part of me, that everything was just for me to look decent in front of his people. Well, if you think of it like that, it’s depressing, but let me put you into another perspective. The alpha simply made your entrance to this new pack a little easier. He pushed you to get stronger, a little confident and now with a spark of power inside you, no one will question his directives and you’ll have a peaceful life ahead of you. Well not too peaceful since I am around. A total win resolve for the both of you and a redefined clean slate for you. You should grab this chance to belong. A stepping-stone to what we truly wish to achieve. I can teach you, train you, give you the strength, we can bond like any normal wolf and human. We can become one. Stronger and powerful. I know she’s right but I can’t erase the discomfort growing in my head. Being part of a pack would mean I have to again open myself to possibilities of rejection and resentments. I may have gained some muscle but that doesn’t excuse me from receiving criticisms and a ton of beating. I watch the Alpha as he patiently waited for me to decide, Alalia is obviously giving me this chance to decide for what I want, she’s at least giving me the respect I need as her human counterpart. The few minutes I had with her were a total whirlwind and I wonder if this is how its going to be. Her having multiple personalities at once and me being almost pushed to a cliff. ‘First of all, I don’t have multiple personalities, its you who has one, which is ME!. Second, your whole entire life is about to get interesting because of, again ME!. Stop overthinking this. You make me crazy human!’ The sass on Alalia’s voice just tells me she wasn’t going to keep on playing nice, so I have to make a decision now before she makes it herself. Okay. Let’s do what he says. No matter how I think about this whole thing, it is still easier to grow under his wing. This is the only way. Alalia simply accepted my words and not a second passed by, she was already requesting the Alpha to bring us some clothes for me to shift into. I can’t face both the Alpha and the Beta butt naked so the clothes are necessary. Even her b***h attitude is a must. Alalia warned me of what could happen during the shift, she also taught me how I can quickly change back and forth when I feel like hiding from the world. She was gentler if I’m being honest. Unlike her earlier way of talking to me, she’s kinder. Must be another side of her that we both need to get into. As soon as I am alone and out of the Alpha and Beta’s prying eyes, I took a deep breath and focus all of my strength into the shift. I prepared myself for the worst, just like what Alalia told me and as I gather the courage to withstand the pain, I felt each strand of my muscles and each of my bones started to shift back and snap to its original place. Alalia assured me that it was only going to take a few minutes but the pain I felt feels like hours. It may be because I am a halfling. As soon as I was done changing, I was breathing so hard and wet from all the sweating. I guess this is how a first time is remembered by many. Drenched in my own pain. It took me awhile to move again and when I did, I could feel a slight sore on areas that are vital and important to my body. Which is everything. I wore the large shirt that was given to us by the Alpha, it was big enough to reach just above my knees, enough to cover the important parts, I guess. I am sure that my hair is in actual mess, but I don’t feel like looking good to anyone right now. Not that it mattered before. Don’t worry deary, you will always look like a hot mess from now on. Even without looking into what my wolfs impression is right now, I already know that she’s standing in all four, confident and proud of how we look right now. I’ll have to get used to this new voice inside my head from now on, because I honestly do not think Alalia likes silence, plus her confidence, I don’t get how she gets that. Deary, I have been in total hibernation for the last couple of years of your life, I think I deserve to be a little loud inside your head, now that I’m awake and well. The other things are just natural. “Just give me some silence from time to time. I do need to think and be on my own, you know” I kindly told her, afraid that she might suddenly snap and make things extra hard on me again. She seemed to have not notice my fear and proceeded to completely ignoring me. I took that as my chance to go back and talk to the Alpha. Just like how we left them earlier, both the Alpha and the Beta were waiting for me, they were both talking about something but when I emerged from the trees they both stopped. “Cyndra, finally.” Beta Ello spoke first. They both doubtingly approached me and looked at me with wonder. They are curious. Curious that you are still able to stand right after you shifted. Usually she-wolves would complain about their muscles aching all over or that they still feel every piece of their body being torn into pieces. But we are not one normal she-wolf. Part of my ability is to heal ten times faster than any she wolves, so from now on, even if someone tries to land a hand on you, your wounds will heal faster. “Maybe we should go back to your place first and clear some things?” Beta Ello was curious but he was also gentle with his approach. The Alpha on the other hand, keeps on staring. I couldn’t help but be aware of his presence, though he stood far, he felt so near. Like I could feel his breathe in my neck and in the back of head. It was dangerously wild and unusually comforting. I immediately looked away or I might attract another unnecessary snide comment from Alalia. Alalia responded with a snarl, but she didn’t say anything else. I also kept my mind clear of any other thoughts. When I didn’t say anything else, Beta Ello changed into his wolf Tarin, he nudges me towards his back, encouraging me to come up and allow him to carry me back to the cabin, but because of my still weak body, I couldn’t even jump and put myself on his back. It was then I felt an unusual spark flying all over my body. Two hands lift me by my waist, helping me get around the beta’s furry back and completely surprising me by the sudden action. I look back and saw that it was the Alpha who helped me get on beta Ello’s back. He didn’t spare me a glance and he immediately change back into his wolf form. I’ll be damned. I heard Alalia cursed but before I could ask her what was up, both Tarin and Pyatros ran wildly into the darkness of the forest. I docked and covered myself with the beta’s thick fur, the cold air was a little harsh on the skin and the shirt I wore was not giving me justice. In a flash we were in front of the Cabin with Jada walking back and forth, waiting for our return. When she saw me in my human form, I saw relief wash over her. Beta Ello stoop down for me to get off and stand on the ground with my bare feet. As soon as I felt the ground, my head grew heavy and as if there was a heavy weight placed on both of my shoulder, I drop down. Jada rushes toward me first but before she could kneel down and help me, she was interrupted by one of her attendants, stopping her and pulling her away from me. “She’s in shock, call for the healers. Send the high priestess back to her quarters.” I heard the Alpha’s voice, commanding everyone that is present. Jada was screaming my name, but darkness was slowly consuming my view and before I could even try and call for help, someone pulls me up from the ground and carries me inside the cabin. I felt someone hold my hand and someone else poking needles on my arm. I didn’t feel any pain, nor did I feel anything unusual, there was only darkness.
